Orioles fans giving Josh a standing ovation was cool.

He had 18 total bases tonite for a NEW AL record. Hard to believe until you think about what it takes to get EIGHTEEN total bases in a game. And the Rangers are waiting for WHAT??? to come to terms with him. I think JD just lost another round in the negotiations. Just sign him to a 5 year deal for whatever he will accept and get it done. Everyone will be better off for it, Rangerswise that is.

This does nothing to help him contract wise..Rangers already know he is a MVP player...WHEN HEALTHY( physical and mental)...He still has to prove he can be that for them

No he doesn't. He's already proven the kind of player he is, and as far as his health is concerned...that's a risk any team takes when they sign any player to a major contract. Look what they paid for Darvish, and he plays only every 5 days. Josh doesn't have to prove anything to anyone to get paid what he's worth. There will be a line waiting to sign him if the Rangers don't . He knows it , the Rangers know it, and so does everyone else that is baseball-savvy. I predict the Rangers will re-sign Josh before the All-Star break.

Darvish contract is at max 11 mil per year. and he's like 25years old. Thats a far cry from 20-30 mil per year that Hamilton is gonna yield. Apples to Oranges IMO.

You left out all the upfront $$$ the Rangers paid Darvish just to sign him. Yes, it is apples to oranges, when you consider Darvish only plays every 5 or 6 games in an entire season, and Josh will play upward to 130-150 if healthy. My example was not intended to compare the two, but to make a point...which evidently you totally ignored or did not get.

I meant to say "when you consider Darvish plays only every 5 or 6 days in an entire season". I hope you don't think I'm really that stupid.

Games or days, it's all about the same. The value of Darvish has not yet been proven, but the value of Josh has. There's your apples to oranges.

Josh has proved his value when healthy and NOW..he has to prove that going forward he will be able to play 140 plus games and no offseason slip ups

Not sure about 140 games with Hamilton at his age playing center field. I think I would take Hamilton at 125 games and still be happy with paying him his huge contract because he is worth that much to the team. Of course, you would want him playing everyday come playoff time.

so, then do not get upset if Hamilton is not MVP since he does not play every day...
bottom line, Hamilton is one of, if not the, the best players in baseball...
if Texas does not give him the money he wants, Boston, New York, Tampa or Anaheim will.
THe Rangers should have locked him up before signing Darvish, Hamilton is way more valuable...
I think Hamilton is great and love watching him play, but I shutter that he will play somewhere else next year...

( If Healthy) if not he has no value.( meaning if he is out indefinetly) Right now he can t seem to make it a month without having these little issues that cause him to miss 3,4 5 games at a time
Thats my only concern about a large contract. I would love to keep him just dont want to lose alot to save him.

I didn't leave out the any money. The upfront cost was an expenditure to that front office. It had nothing to do with cap space.

kthx

No one said he is not one of the best..but do you want to pay someone over 100 million who has not ben able to prove he can stay healthy? That is the decision Texas has to make..pay for what could be, or pay what they have seen

Fox sports reported he is only the 16th MLB player to ever hit 4 homeruns in a single game. I would have thought there was more than just 16.

idk man. thats a bunch of HRs in one game. I was suprised it was so many.

They said the total bases broke the AL record. I wonder what the MLB record is. f'n 18 bases is crazy in one game.

19 is the MLB record by Shawn Green. He had 4 HR, 2B, and a 1B.
