The Celina kids ran (and threw) great today! It looks like Region 2 will dominate at the state meet. The times were generally faster than Region 3 times and it doesn't look good for Regions 1 and 4!

Looks like two years in a row that Celina has won Region II. Guess you East Texas Oil and Gas guys will have to start recruiting some East Texas Speed from the Metroplex! ;)

I don't understand the relatively slow times in the 200 for the Boys Region 2 meet. Even against the wind, historically sub 22 to mid 21 usually wins this race. Where's all the speed in this event this year? Looking at the other sprint times, surely there should be enough speed burners in this region to eclipse 22 easily.

Winning time was 22.17 last year!

Look past last year and you will see sub 22 for the 200 just as many times as above it. I looked at the 100 and saw 6 times sub 11, but none of those guys ran the 200. It's just hard for me to fathom not at least one school in the region having a 200 man that can turn the corner at under 22 this year, or last year for that matter.

You MAY have someone who can but don't enter him in the "open". If a kid runs the 100, sprint relay, and 4x2, you may be able to maximize points and take a pounding off of his legs. Strategically, you should try to win the relays and then fill in the "opens".

Yep, that's probably what's happening here. All the speed is being reserved for the relay events where the points are.
