Celina will be playing Perryington in Yukon Oklahoma, but thats not why I bring this up. Yukon has just built a new 6,000 seat football stadium with jumbotron for only $17 million dollars. Thats a lot of money, but really considering to cost of most stadiums these days it really doesnt sound like that much to me. $17 million will build a very nice stadium for sure.

It's a nice stadium, but it doesn't have anything the new Texas stadiums of that size don't have. It's definitely a step up as far as typical Oklahoma stadiums go.

does it have an elevator?
Does the baseball have lights?
Does the refs get limo service?

I get that, but what im saying is that its a very nice stadium that most teams would be proud to have and they didnt spend a massive amount of money.

What kind of enrollment does this school have, and how are the classified in Oklahoma?

A friend of mine who lives in Norman believes they are either 5a or 6a. From what I get from him a 5a school there is a 4a school here.

They have 2300 students so they would be a big 5a school here. Their website said they have over 900 students in athletics also.

Seems like a small stadium for such a big enrollment, but then again football is not king in Oklahoma like it is here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkzDaPjfAkYLooks like they saved money on visitors side seating, which is probably okay unless they want to host playoff games, other than that, everything looks fantastic and state of the art updated.

with BIG schools like Allen and the Planos I don't think 2300 would be a big 5a at all.....

They would be an extremely small 5a in Texas.

That is impressive but they made the same mistake a lot of schools made. You should have a separate stadium for track then you can have the stands closer to the field.

Yeah Phil, they should have put the track elsewhere. I thought the same thing.

With all the oilfield money floating around in the area, I am sure there will more to come.

Very similar to Mineral Wells which is 3A. Although, Mineral Wells has a separate track field. Ironically I used to live in Yukon (Home of Garth Brooks) back in the early 80's.

Yukon's enrollment is 1959.46 ... big 4A in Texas. But it's the 10th-biggest school in Oklahoma so it's a 6A. Only seven schools in Oklahoma have Texas 5A numbers.

In fact, all but the top 11 schools in Oklahoma's 5A would be 3A in Texas.

As far as I know, Oklahoma counts the same kids Texas does (grades 9-12), so these are apples to apples.

There are few if any states that have high school football stadiums that come close to what we have here in Texas. Scattered affluent schools here and there, but all combined would not equal to half of what's here.

You got that right Rabid Cougar. Texas is the center of the universe for top-quality high school football, and the whole world knows it , too. Well, at least the whole football world.
