Many days spent watching American Bandstand after school...Dick Clark was an entertainment icon. Ryan Seacrest is trying to follow in his footsteps.

Ryan Seacrest is TRYING to follow in his footsteps.
He's no Dick Clark! When Dick was no longer able to host things like the New Years Eve celebration on TV, I quickly lost interest. He made things exciting and his enthusiasm was contagious...he was 1 of a kind.

"Stay Hard Dick Clark"!

Like him or not Seacrest one of the hardest workers in the biz and has said many many times Clark is the guy he grew up wanting to be.

Don't miss the point...my comment was about Dick Clark not really about Ryan Seacrest. I wouldn't know him if I saw him....I don't ever watch reality TV.

He had to be 85 or so, wasn't he?

He was 82 and for Seacrest...he couldn't hold Clark's microphone.

You have a valid question and it isn't a big surprise but it still a shock when they are gone though.

RIP Mr. Clark. :(

Who is surprised? The man was well thought of and some of us feel a bit of a loss. For me, he was a keynote to remembering pleasant things from the past, especially New Years Eve.

Yes indeed...he was always so personable with the guests on the show... also liked "Bloopers and Practical Jokes".
