We have a great butcher shop in Whitesboro that is called The Meat Market. A few years ago they opened a grill and make burgers, sandwiches, and a great chicken fried steak. Their burgers are as good as anyone's...fantastic.

Also, Denton County Independent Hamburger Company is outstanding...I prefer the original location on the square.

Depends on the type of burger.

Just a regular ol Hamburger I'd say Shroeders in Thorndale

For a specialty burger I'd say the buffalo burger from Casino El Camino in Austin.

There is this little burger joint up here in Waco near TSTC campus called Burgers Galore. They have a big cheese that is marvelous. Comes with onion rings loads of cheese and more.

I'm the biggest guy on here, so let me take you on a burger journey of Texas...

Chris Madrid's in San Antonio - my favorite. I have never had a bad burger there. It is amazing what they do.
Dan's in Austin - a lot of people are more familiar with Hut's. Dan's puts them away. I mean seriously.
Hut's in Austin - Pretty good, but the onion rings make up for any shortcoming
Beaver's in Houston - worth every bit of the $9. Seriously, try this thing.
New Hope Grocery in New Hope, TX - my favorite greasy smalltown burger, and I'm ashamed that I haven't eaten there in a while and taken my kids. I ought to be ashamed.
Rick's Chophouse in McKinney, TX - best fancy pants burger place in Texas. Best burger I've ever eaten, but it's going to cost you.
Patty Shack in Grand Prairie - toppings are mixed into the meat then cooked. Sounds like a cluster waiting to happen, but it's pretty stinking good.

Don't take my word for it, try them out.

When we moved to Weatherford back in 1968 the best was Clyde's Hamburgers. The special was 10 for a buck. I don't care how good of a burger you get today, you can never beat 10 for $1.00.

Actually its called Old World Meat Market. was just in there the other day and bought some summer sausage and sirlion. They import some stuff from Fischer's Meat Market in Muenster. If you have never been to Fischers you are missing out. A bit pricey but well worth it in the return you get for quality. Their Strudel's are the best, especially the Rasberry Cheese Strudel.

I've changed my tune, y'all. While nobody's been able to top a Kokomo Cafe burger (R.I.P.) yet, Burger Fresh in Conroe is at least as good.

I'm gonna have to try a few of these places. I think the only non-chains on this list I've had were Chris Madrid's, Dixie Chicken/Chicken Oil, and Hinze's. All were well worth the price of admission.

Seems like a lot of people are throwing Kincaid's out there. That'll have to be an eventual stop as well.

Google up Alamo Springs Café outside of Fredericksburg in the country close to Luchenbach. Check out the reviews and if you're a burgermeister, you may want to give it a shot. Fred's also got wineries and lots of other touristy things going on practically every single weekend of the year. Christmas season(after Nov.30th) is a great time to explore this town and this area. The ladies seem to like it better than the men, though. There's a great golf course in Fred.....Ladybird at the State Park here. It's on the river and I can verify you will enjoy your round. I played yesterday for only $35 w/cart fee. It's a $65 type course in SA, Dallas, and Austin all day long, even this time of the year. Actually, this is the BEST time of year to hit it. The greenfees are cheaper now and it's cooler weather.
