Just realized that the past 2 times Jasper has been to the Playoffs we've had to play teams that went to state in the first round... :speech:

2009 - Gilmer
2011 - Tyler Chapel Hill

What's sad is that both of those years we showed real promise for a run. Just can't catch a break.

Yep--Texas is the toughest arena for HS football. It takes a little luck as well as being very, very good to win a SC in Texas.

Didn't jasper lose by like 50 or 60 to chapel hill?

No disrespect intended, but every other team chapel hill played in the playoffs played them to within 10 points down to the final moments of the game.

I honestly don't think you guys would've made it any further had you somehow gotten out of playing chill in round 1. They went thru a gauntlet so real promise for a deep run was very unlikely IMO.

They got cocky during the Chapel Hill game because they went up 14-0 in the first quarter and they started playing sloppy. I understand what you're saying though. I just think that if they hadn't have gotten cocky they MIGHT'VE (and that's a big might) won or it would've been closer.

Look at the bright side. If you make the playoffs next year you want be in the same division as Carthage.

Forney played the eventual state champions at some point in the season 2000-2004. Unfortunately none of those were inter-squad scrimmages.

Haha, I have to admit...don't want to play you.

That's what happened to us in 2009. We only had 3 losses all season and they were to Gilmer in the Week 0 game, Carthage in a district game, and then Gilmer again in the first round. Gilmer ended up winning D1 and Carthage won D2.
