Should i get a mossburg shotgun or a kimber pro carry 2 for birthday? also considering a fnx five seven? Even though im a little extreme when it comes to sports I value you guys opinions cause we are all cut from the same cloth and love sports kids and guns AND FAMILY IN NO CERTAIN ORDER.

Gotta go with the 1911. Not sure if the pro carry is as decked out as some of the full length kimbers that are match grade but, if they are, you will be very impressed. Best shooting out of the box pistol i've owned, to date.

Ive got a few 5 inch 1911's no Colts, Kimbers yet. Kinda hesitant about a 3 inch. Maybe 4 inch would be better option for conceal carry and still have the reliability of full size.

Great thread! Love seeing everyone's responses.

Rifles:
-Winchester 30-06
"Old faithful"...Versatile as hell. Can use that gun for just about anything from pigs to deer to big game. Doesn't have quite the range that some of my other rifles have, but it has plenty for most hunts (I'm pretty accurate with it for 200 yds) and will knock down anything I hunt. Simple answer, not too extravagant, but I love that gun. It just does everything.
-Browning 30/30
I've always loved lever actions, love hunting pigs or just shooting with this gun. Browning makes (well, they used to make--haven't kept up lately) a lever action .270 that I always wanted. I love lever actions, and the .270 is just a great all-around gun. If I got that gun, it would immediately become my "go-to" rifle.

Pistols:
I only have two that I trust (the other's a piece of junk from the 70's--I'm scared to shoot it again), so this one was easy for me:
-Ruger .38 Special revolver
Will shoot everytime and shoots straight as an arrow. Just a reliable gun.
-Colt "Peacemaker" .22 revolver
My favorite gun just because of the cool factor. I've always preferred the "look" of revolvers, and with it's 6" barrel this looks like something straight out of the Old West. Polished/stainless action/body (whichever you want to call it) and barrel, wood stock. Been in my family for generations, my grandfather bought it used from some great uncle or cousin or something back in the 50's or 60's.

On another note, I've always liked the fit and feel of XDM's and H&K's, and even more than that always liked the idea of that Taurus .410 revolver. I just can't justify spending any more money on guns. I have every gun I really need and we use a .12 gauge first, and that .38 second for home defense. My dad's passing his H&K .40 down to me sometime, but if I had more to burn I'd probably own an XDM 9 (price of ammo), an H&K .45, that .410, and (first and foremost) that $900 Browning .270 lever action.

Rifle:
my 30-30, which is just like turbostuds, but with a scope(nostalgic factor with this one).

Pistol:
Browning Buck Mark .22 (this gun is just as accurate as any rifle, picks off clothes pins at 50' with ease, just a fun fun gun).

Obviously prepared for a clothes pin attack, bet it would work good on stray cats too! Next time your in the metroplex area swing by and we'll try it out.

Remmington 700 vssf 308 (black synthetic stock, stainless fluted barrel) with a Leupold 6.5X20 Vari-X III scope. I now work for Zeiss, but I am reluctant to change out the scope because the gun is so accurate right now. Shot a 5 shot group at 200 yards that will fit under a quarter - would be nickle sized but I had one flyer...

My favorite pistols are a Glock 22 in .40 caliber and a Colt pocketlite .380 double action. Favorite rifles I own are a 1950 336SC Marlin 30-30 given to me when I was twelve by my grandfather and a Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08.
