For a moment forget about the two the divisions and different regions. I know things change throughout the season, but based on what we know now as far as who's coming back and who's moved down a classification. What matchup do you think would draw the biggest crowds and have the most viewership statewide on televison?

Obviously Burnet and Brownwood in their day

I think if it was billed as Brownwoods 7 S.C. against Celina 7 1/4 S.C. it would draw a lot of interest.:1popcorn:

Stephenville vs La Marque......

I may be in the minority on this one but I think this could be the least viewed match up. I believe that 3a fans outstide the two towns could care less about 2 recent 4a teams who are now playing for the 3a state title and for the casual viewer there is no story there. I believe that 3a would possibly be seen as weak and uninteresting if this happens.

It's official. I now have internet street cred. Lion70 chimed in on one of my threads.

As for your post, since east texas doesn't exist in the eyes of the bigger media outlets here in Tx, I doubt too many people outside east texas tuned in.

20,000 plus is a lot but as far as the television audience, I don't think it would have been an overwhelming amount of casual fans watching the game.

I guarantee that if you have Stephenville vs Celina like an earlier post suggested, there would be atleast 30,000 to see that game. The hype machine at FSSW would love that one.

Spring Hill vs. Hillsboro.
I believe that WOULD draw a lot of interest, especially seeing as neither team is expected to make the playoffs and have had a lot of trouble getting wins lately.

I think in terms of a TV audience a DFW team vs. a Houston team would be the biggest draw simply because they're population centers. East Texas doesn't draw as much interest from the rest of the state because of the lack of population centers, even though they've won 75% of the 3A state titles in the last four seasons.:p

I agree with the DFW vs Houston draw but I think if Carthage(reigning kings of 3A,not saying we're better than everyone but we won 3 out of 4 years so save the hate mail. I would say this about any other team) steamrolled everyone this season and stood at 15-0 and Stephenville(new big boys on the block who are the preseason favorite) did the same, IF the media put some effort into that it could be a huge showdown that would draw non 3A fans to want to attend or watch this game. Now with no media hype it would not garner much interest.

how do 3a schools sell 2k+ student tickets?
Wimberley sold that many this year. You got all the schools all the way down plus family and kids from all over, Wimberleys total crowd was at least as much as Argyl fans and they were only 30 minutes away and Wimberley was 4 1/2 hours! We had people I had not seen in 10 years at that game, bad economy too!

Also, I am so sick of reading about Brownwood and Stephenville I could throw up......just saying.

ditto...
in my opinion, brownwood people care more about the rivalry than stephenville people - probably because their glory days were 30+ years ago and the brownwood/stephenville rivalry is the only thing they have to help them hold relevance in the 3a world...

maybe that would change if they were in the same district, or even playing each other, again, but who knows...just my opinion though...
