HOUSTON, TX - Rice University's Clayton Chaney has been voted as the Conference USA Indoor Male Field Athlete of the Year as announced by the league office Wednesday and voted upon by C-USA's head track and field coaches.
Chaney, from Bellville, Texas, won the 2012 C-USA Indoor heptathlon title with a career-best performance of 5,370 points. This honor marks Rice's first C-USA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year honor since Jason Colwick won it in 2009. During the seven-event heptathlon, Chaney took top honors in two events, placed second in four and third in one event at the conference meet. His time of 8.21 in the 60M hurdles and toss of 13.28m (43-7) in the shot put topped the heptathlon field
