I DO know the coaches and they are saying nothing remotely close to "homer stew" that JSwarm is serving up. Did TxHogWild from TOC change his name when he came here? Although there aren't the usual spelling and grammar errors he generally throws out.

I have watched the Stephenville off-season workouts/bootcamp for the past 2 days and the boys look good. I'm excited about next year and I like our chances

Stephenville is all flash and no substance. Its like the lightbulb is on.. but nobody is home. Thats how they grow them out west...

Any speed? I'm looking forward to watching a couple of games this season and seeing what you guys have.

We have some speed, but it really depends on your definition of speed. I'd say we are bigger than we are fast, but in the past we have been able to play with fast teams. (Mesquite horn last year was pretty fast)

Our RB kind of reminds me of Hunter Holland from a couple of years ago.

His stats from last year:
5' 10" 185 lbs
40 yd 4.66 sec
100 m 12 sec
Vertical Leap 29"
Bench Press 245 lbs
Squat 345 lbs

Sville would probably be able to speak more to the speed question.

My Guess.. The refs.. or we played bad... or the moon wasnt algined right... or an alien spaceship landed on the field..

I can relate---the Bulls had a similar unfortunate experience last season against a very physical Prosper team in the rain.

The Jackets got by Aledo by 1 point in the first game---how did they do it then and not even come close in the playoffs?

They also lost a close 10-6 game to Lewisville Hebron---what happened in that one?

Both games came down to injuries.

Aledo game we lost our Sr QB to a broken foot and his replacement along with a then little know receiver both stepped up and Aledo did not have an answer for them. I hated to see the 3 year starter go out in his first game but the replacement seemed to take the team to a new level. Our def made several key stops including stopping a 2 point conv. when it was 48-47. Our special teams blocked a FG from about 30 but we got called for roughing the kicker... moved them closer then blocked it again with no time on clock for the win.

Hebron game was rain delayed and we lost our starting RB in the first quarter. We were up 6-3 with 38 seconds left and had them at 4th and 15 from their own 10. They converted and drove down to score with about 20 seconds left. We had no timeouts left and got the ball to their 40 but ran out of time.

You of all people should know how well Carthage can play. Stephenville may win it all, but my money is on the Dawgs. You had a team that hung 50 on the ville, but got beat by the Dawgs. You should know better by now.

I know the refs screwed us. That's about it.

Sadler was my first thought along with the Tatum QB Overstreet. Was a pleasure watching Sadler in the playoffs against us. He was legit. Was just curious as to the process used to select a winner. Was in no way meant as a shot at Gunter.

I'm not a douche ( in real life ) and frankly I know a lot about Stephenville. Maybe your not the village idiot and I really don't think you are, (maybe all of you are) but I think I can say for many people on this board that many are sick and tired of hearing about Stephenville and La Marque dropping to little'ol 3A. The great 3A programs are every bit as good as many 4A programs, and as I said before in other post, I don't think ya'll ordered state rings recently. Again, I know Stephenville because there is college there that is dear to my heart, but you all may have a rude awakening as well as a few others next year. I think Wimberley could go deep again, but as much as I want it, East Texas will kick your A this next year. You heard it here first, Gone Fishing says, Stephenville will not win SC next year.

still here. been busy the past week. got a little catching up to do. it is sad that our only real games come in the predistrict part of our schedule (except lavega). then it we feast on those delicious 3a cupcakes till Christmas. maybe the cartlidge puppy dogs will give us a game. (i doubt it) you need to get a little new material your do-do cupcakes are getting a little stale.

We have a winner!!! And of course nothing personal against my Mexican friends. We have been the smallest school and now we catch a break. Be honest what was the first words out of your mouth Alignment day when they said Stephenville was 3A? I had the TV on and the Radio. When it was announced I jumped around like a kid on Christmas day.:cheerl:

Mine were thank God. Now its a level playing field. And we can compete in all sports not just football. Be fun to watch what happens over the next few years.

Henderson won state after dropping to 3a..since 1980 in 4a Henderson never made it past 3 rounds in playoffs..since 1980 Stephenville won 4 state championships in 4a..La Marque won 5 SCs in 4a and Kilgore won 1 SC in 4a...so we'll see if that even matters in the next couple of years..will be interesting.

When I found out Stephenville was 7-3A, I thought they might be a SC contender and I don't have a problem with that as long as they're not district champs.

Depends on the attitude and if the team gets hot at thr right moment. Remember we were coming off a 5-5 non playoff season in 4a , picked to finish 4th place in the District of Doom. We finished at 3rd place cause outside of chapel hill (and I say this not to offend anyone ) there wasn't any teams in the state that would show us a tougher matchup than our 163A did.

You are welcome. I thought Stephenville had a 4 year long season? Did that go the way of 4a status? Be careful with the off-season workouts, things are different in 3a. Now that the kids go to a 3a school, you can't push them too hard or they might quit or something.

Honestly, I am glad Stephenville dropped to 3a. I hope your son has a great season. It has been fun reading the eager beaver posts and learning about your team and town, and I look forward to seeing how the predictions play out. I even think jacketswarm is kinda funny if not a little bit annoying. But then again, wasps, bees, yellow jackets, and other pests are usually annoying, so its all good. At least yall aren't the Skeeters.

i guess since talk is cheap you should take this for whats its worth:

i dont see any 3a team out there that will be able to beat the Stephenville Yellow Jackets next year. period.

Actually, all you really need to do is compare what 3A teams in the Boys side of the state track meet did vs. the 4A teams did on the individual events. There's not much difference in the outcomes, and sometimes 3A has the better outcome. What does this mean? That the best athletes in each classification are competitive, and that also translates to team sports. The best "teams" in each classification will also be competitive. Even though 4A has a major advantage of enrollment numbers, it does not seem to make much difference where the best are playing the best in each classification. There are exceptions, but on the whole it doesn't look like Stephenville or LaMarque or any other 4a dropdown will have a cakewalk in 3a.

i wouldnt exactly call Ozen a top 4a team next year..but Aledo with that monster soph class coming up will be! i will be at that game..maybe the inlaws will let me go to the jacket side..save me a seat!

Rocket will game with the best of you untill the Carthage Dawgs show up. He might not be as talkative this time around. Looking forward to the Dawgs playing the Ville, if they make that far.

not all of us are planning the parade - i saw the ass whipping they got from brownwood two seasons ago, a season where, again, stephenville went to the regional finals and couldnt get through...and brownwood wasnt even the best 3a team in the state that year either....

i have a bet with my wife's boss, he took stephenville, i gladly took the rest of the field...
