Don't really know where i stand on this one. I definately don't believe in deliberately trying to hit a guy in a way with intentions of ruining his career. But on the other hand, don't these guys get payed enough that they should have there own personal bounty on any opponent. After all, i believe in cutting a guy in half or as the old saying goes, "hit'em in the mouth". I guess if the bounty was actually to take a guy out by purposely trying to break his legs or spearing in the head, then i believe punishment is justified, just not sure if that was a little steep. I'm already worried about where this game is going and the future of football as we use to know it. Before long they'll be playing in dresses. I guess i gotta agree that paying extra for any illegal hits should be dealt with. I just think that for what those guys get payed and with their pay being decided by their performance, they should be trying to murder anyone on the field, so to speak.

You can hit hard and still not be trying to hurt someone..I will never understand this belief that football is a caveman sport that teams try to injure each other to win.

Didn't you see the last part......... "so to speak" That's what i meant, hit hard, cut'em in half. Oh, let me explain that one before it gets interpreted wrong. Hit them hard at the waist like your trying to cut them in two. Good grief, you spend too much time in the debate room with Farmersfan.

Or the belief that if you're not trying to hurt someone it makes you an inferior player or, at the very worst, soft. That seems to be the prevailing attitude these days in cyberspace.

I guess sometimes it's not all about the U. It's about ratings.

I dont know what is worse, Shockey snitching on the Saints or Sapp snitching on Shockey. Stupid is as stupid does.

I dont see anything wrong with a player going to the NFL..especially one who plays on the other side of the ball

Just a hunch but I don't think Payton will be asked to do another music video that involves HS players.

The lustre on the Saints Superbowl trophy is tarnashing rapidly. I suspect their fanbase and support systems will also diminish this coming season. Too bad for Drees and the offense, but everyone on the team was aware. Still, what can a player do that is not directly involved? Sit back and keep his mouth shut, I guess.

Paying a player to specifically injure another player is just wrong. I believe the NFL had to deal with this and make an example of the Saints to protect the league from future lawsuits. I have to assume that the NFL is like any other employer, if it knowingly ignores the safety of its employees then it opens itself to all kinds of lawsuits and financial responsibility to the injured worker.

I'm a Saints fan and have always been one. I coach defense and like to see offensive players get hit hard! However, I do not believe in intentionally trying to injure someone. Make him hurt but don't try to end his career.

I think the punishment for the Saints is just. Hate that it came to this but Goodell did the right thing.
