Where are the worst ones in the state?

Worst counties, towns, etc...

Red Light Cams... they are going up all over the state. Thoughts?

Speed traps: stretch of I45 consisting of (going south) Hutchins, Wilmer, Ferris, Palmer, Garrett.
Crandall is pretty bad, too.

Eastland County and Parker County are pretty rough stretched of I-20

I got my self and escort for Christmas (no not that kind, wife wouldn't go for it) and it is great:

http://www.escortradar.com/passport9500ix-details.php

It has GPS built in so it knows about (and warns you about) red light cams and some speed traps, but you can put in your own coordinates for speed traps.

actually red light cameras are starting to be thrown away because the cities pay more in the tech and having to fight bad pics and people not paying..I know Dallas County has admitted they lose money on them

I've heard that you don't have to pay the tickets from the cameras and there is nothing they can do. I have not tried, but wondered if anybody has?

Probably the most notorious speed trap in the state is in Estelline, TX.....(Estelline is between Memphis and Childress) I forgot about how bad it was there until a friendly billboard reminded me of it on my way home from Albuquerque on Sunday

The fines for them should be a lot more then they are.

I recently got a notice from the NTTA (North Texas Toll Authority) that I owed some tolls. They sent a picture of the back of a pickup but you cannot read the license plate. The document said that it was my son's Dodge pickup and I can guarantee that it is not. My son's pickup has a bumper sticker, and has had for years, that is not on the pickup in the picture. Since I could not figure out how to dispute the toll charge, I just paid it. It wasn't worth my time going down there to try to get it dismissed. I wonder how many mistakes like that happen?

My friend's dad got a bill from NTTA a few years ago with pictures of a car with his license plate # on it going through their tolls. Problem is, he drives a truck and has for as long as I can remember and I've known him for 16 years. Plus he hadn't been to DFW in years either. He called them and they dismissed it, but I've never heard anything about how that car had plates with the same #s as his truck. I didn't see the pictures, but he said the numbers matched. Maybe it was from another state and the numbers just happened to match, and the little words with the name of the state just weren't clear... who knows.

Rogers & Rosebudd-Lott have always been been notoriously bad for speed traps. However, they now have nothing on Buckholts. Ever since getting their own PD, they are at it non-stop.

My grand daughter (16 at the time) had a green KIA reg in my name. I got a notice from Dallas about running a red light in Dallas (we are 100 miles away) on a Thurs. afternoon with a pic included. Her Nanny was reaming her...what in the world was she doing in Big D, on a Thurs. & not in school. She told me it was not her...Nanny said "here is the pic". I'll admit it was convincing but she had never lied to me (we raised her). I was able to go online several days later and sure nuff, it was not her & the car did not look right. I got a PD friend of mine to run some liscense numbers (not clear on pic) & got a bingo...a green Toyota sedan with an 8 instead of GD's 3 and a Dallas address. Took me 2 months to get it staright...I was told since they could not read the number, they sent arrest warrants to everybody that had a close match...What jerks they were.

Reminds me of a couple of years ago when I received a notice of non-payment of child support in Oklahoma. At first I was just amused, then I received a second one. When I called them, they said they look up names in a national database and there were six people with my name in Texas and Oklahoma. They just send a letter to all of them and see who responds. Fortunately my wife also found it amusing.

At my age it is unlikely I have a child under 18!

That is why I went ahead and paid it. I didn't figure it was worth the hassle.

Liberty Hill has got to be the worst , they have about 8 cops for a town of 2000 . Bertram would be secound , bar none , ( ask Cam ) if you speed thru either you WILL get a ticket. Also watch the rolling stops in LH , that is one of their favorite tickets , you must come to a complete stop and wait 2 seconds , at least that is what they told my boss.

I am not proud of this because I should really slow down, but I've been pulled over twice in the last week on the same road by the same officer. The crazy thing is he gave me a warning both times. I'm determined not to try my luck a third time.

Here is a website where you can see and submit known speed traps and vote on speed traps that others have submitted.

Create a free account and put them in.

http://www.speedtrapusa.com

Then if you have an escort passport with a gps (and keep it updated) then you will be warned when you get close to any known speed trap.

Tatum's can be pretty bad.

They hide everywhere and they used to hide by the back entrance to the high school and wait for high school kids to "run" the stop sign. School got tired of it so they keep that gate locked now.

Los Fresnos is real bad. Its on Hwy 100 on the way to South Padre Island. I got 2 tickets there within a week. State of texas sent me a letter saying not only did I have to pay the 2 tickets, but I also had to pay extra because of 3 tickets(1 a year earlier in Los Fresnos) in to short amount of timeand basically said if I get another ticket within a year I would lose my license. When I left SPI last Sat afternoon I counted 11 cop cars of varying agencies between SPI and Los Fresnos because of SPring Break.

That stretch of highway between LF and SPI can be bad..its real straight and real flat so if you don't put the cruise control on you will eventually start pushing that speed limit..

My husband got stopped for rolling stop a few years ago. Yet, I complained to the police chief about 18 months ago about people CONSTANTLY running the stop sign in front of our house. I suggested that they could park an officer for a few hours and write 20 tickets minimum. He said it wasn't "worth it" because they didn't make that much money from running stop signs. Really????? So if a child happens to get killed when some DA runs the stop sign, how much is it worth then?

I dont remember the % breakdown , but they actually make more money on the city streets per ticket than they do on the State owned highways. That also would not be as much fun for them , they get to do donuts and chase people down on 29 !
