The area within a 25 mile radius of Mineral Wells seems to have become a basketball mecca. With the Brock girls winning their fourth straight state title today. The Lipan girls playing tonight for the title. Graford and Lipan boys met today with Graford winning to advance to state and Mineral Wells beating Burkburnett to win the area round.

Brock has always been synonomous with basketball. They still are a basketball only school, right?

Wonder how long it takes them to become a football powerhouse also. With all the folks that have moved their kids there just to play basketball for Brock. Two girls from Mineral Wells that I know of and their parents still reside in Mineral Wells.

Its been that way for a long time for the smaller 1A schools, in the 80's when I was in school the big dogs were Brock, Santo, Huckaby, Lipan, and Lingleville, and Graford year after year. All were b-ball only except Santo. I believe Huckaby and Santo won SC in the 80's and Lipan and Brock later in the 90's. Graford would have won one in '88, but came up against a Paducah team that was phenomenal and probably could have beaten all but one or two teams (all classes) at the state tournament.

Yes, I remember that Paducah team. Probably one of the best ever. We even made the State Championship game in back to back years 78-79. Only to lose to Huntsville both times.

Brock will have JV football the next 2 years... Frosh and Soph kids only next year. Start varsity play in 2014.

What about Peaster. A pretty good basketball only program.
