Sweeny ISD plans on Turfing Bulldog Stadium.

Trustees voted 5 to 1 to authorize the superintendent to seek bids. Rough Estimates are the project will cost between $1.3 - $1.7 million which includes replacing the track and adding an eigth lane. The money is from a $6 million dollar bond election passed 5 years ago. Bids will go in front of the school board in March.

I heard from a credible source that construction will begin as soon as track season is complete.

About time they get turf and an 8 lane track!!!

Maybe we can have the district track meet over there for a change.

How many schools in 2A that have turf besides Hitchcock?probably quite a few, I know Early installed turf 2-3 years ago, I know of at least 3 6-man schools with turf (Zephyr, Borden Co., Trent).

Expanding the visitors side bleachers @ Bulldog Stadium wouldn't be a bad idea either. :)

At least you won't get a splinter up your arse like you use to at WC back in the day.

Seriously we need to add more seating on the visitor side at least some pop up bleacher's like at our softball field.

Sounds like a good idea. I'd rather spend my money on bigger visitor stands first, before a turf field.

Definately need to spend some money on more seating. You'd think with a town a small as sweeny, that the visitors side would would seat atleast what the home side does.

The dub had Lynch, just let Sweeny borrow him for a few years. Glad to hear Sweeny is upgrading their football facility. Can they build the cajun coach a ballpark? Playing HS baseball on a little league field is not good.

Field Turf has a damn good ROI.

Saving the $$$ on overall field maintenance. Water, paint, labor, etc...

Great investment, however they need to include "impact testing" into the annual budget.

What the article doesn't cover is the cost to retrofit your field if you fail G-Max testing.

I wonder what the G-Max of natural grass fields are......or basketballs courts, or tennis courts.

Damn and we cannot even get new restrooms and concession stand much less turf and field houses, that's what happens when your old Super. politics around town to vote down your school bond. Got rid of him and he still runs the school, can't win for losing.
