Venus, Hillsboro and Bye week is not a very challenging way to go into the playoffs, but should help get people healthy for a run.

Royce, I think that is their strategy to try and stay healthy. Hell, lets just play 8 games with one being against old Mexico.

Stephenville may play a team Duval County, Florida week 2 as part of the Lone Star Kickoff Classic at Kincaide Stadium in Dallas. It is still not for sure but hoped to be finalized this week.

Yep, the Florida team and another out of Southern Cali are possibilities for Stephenville

One thing about the district schedule is you will know where you stand after the first two games. With 2 wins you can coast the last two knowing you made the playoffs and get players healthy if needed, while giving some younger players a lolt of playing time.

They said it was too far.

So if a team tells Stephenville its too far they are ducking them. But, if Stephenville tells a team its too far when they still need 2 games, it doesnt get mentioned? Hmmmmm

Thats what I thought too.....But it does make for a better story to say "Everyone is ducking us!" instead of "We aren't scared to play anyone, except the Pre-season #1 in 4A". LOL

I honestly don't feel quite as sorry for Stephenville as I did on Thursday.....I thought a home and home vs. John Tyler woulda been great...esp since JT was willing to play Week 5...

Like I've said before, Stephenville will get served some humble pie this season and it will probably be from a 3A team. Some people around there are letting this get to their heads... "we in 3A now.. we'll dominate! nobody even wants to play us!"

LOL

Maybe they know it's much easier to get a win in Amarillo and it is at The Rose.

i think the amarillo game is going to be in snyder though....

sville to amarillo: 394 miles
sville to snyder: 190 miles
sville to tyler: 193 miles

sville to amarillo: 394 miles
sville to snyder: 190 miles
sville to tyler: 193 miles

So Stephenville is willing to drive 190 miles one way but not 193? Those 3 extra miles must be up a damn steep hill.

I am surprised to hear this as Duval County Schools have been extremely cash strapped with successive annual budget cuts. With out private fundraising they were going to have to do away with tennis and cross country programs. On the other hand there is a very good small private school, The Bolles School, coming off a state championship season last year that might be a good candidate. They have a strong athletic program and would be a great match-up. I hope the game can be made.

I will say this of ANY school..I can understand not wanting to schedule TWO non district match ups that are over 150 miles if they can help it

This whole thing has been blown waaaaaay out of the water! The Stephenville coaches knew the possible scenerio and they evidently failed to prepare for it. Somebody will bring these guys back down to reality before the season is over.

I understand that too, but when you turn people down don't get on every message board you can find and tell people how everyone is dodging you so you can't find 2 games. LOL

I agree andBelieve it or not, there are some coaches out there that have a reputation that causes other coaches to be leary. There ARE coaches out there that have a history of saying Yes we'll play you in week whatever, but actually meaning "Yes we'll play you unless I find a better deal here in the next few minutes. For the vast majority of coaches a YES means YES and you can take it to the bank. However, if you backtrack a couple of times..... word gets around quickly. Just sayin.........

Word is there could be a home and home game with an out of state opponent in the works for Stephenville, could be finalized next week
