Just don't see how DCTF can have Argyle in the top 10 after losing all those srs. and Aune to graduation. Yes, we have a good core coming back, and some talented non-starters that got tons of playing experience last year. We even have some younger talent coming up from a very successful JV squad. But Top Ten in 3A is still high on the mountain for 190 teams statewide. I would put us about #20-25 realistically. I think other teams deserve notice and recognition for returning a quality senior-laden team with an experienced qb at the helm, moreso than what the Eagles have returning. Not that we won't be highly competitive, but Top Ten is a bit much, I think. JMO.

Navasota looks to low, I figured them for a top 5

Wow! I didn't expect Gilmer to be that high on the list after losing all the skill position players. The Buckeyes definitely have some talent coming up, but it might take a few games to gel. I was thinking Navasota and LaMarque would be a little higher, too. No Alvarado and no Wimberley either........did those teams lose all of their players to graduation?

So where is La Vega? I would not overlook the Pirates.

LaMarque lost all their skill kids on offense but bring back 7 on D....Alvarado and Wimberely did look to be senior heavy...I thnk Navasota is top five as well

Most of you have said it, Navasota has totally dominated Sealy in the past two post season games....

Navasota has a ton coming back from that same team that dominated Sealy this past season and Sealy is higher, now that's comedy.

Wimberley lost alot of seniors but really only need to replace receivers and both DB's. The rest will be very solid. Wimberley had 7 jrs and 2 sophs make all district. The qb "in waiting" is very good, just had a senior in front of him, he also was the starting safety this year. They also had 4 or 5 jrs this year that didnt start but played a whole lot. There is one Freshman (move up for playoffs) that will be a impact player next year too and several really good players from jv.. I'm telling you dont count Wimberley out of a top ten caliber team. IMO. I also think the early top 10 is way off, it should change drastically when the summer book comes out and others come out.

Not meaning to be argumentative, but I just don't think you replace players like Blakemore, Lambert and Smith. You may put somebody else in their position, but you don't replace them. Just saying that these guys played together for at least three years. Difficult to replicate that kind of chemistry that this group had.

How about a Refugio and Stephenville pre district match up? Didn't Refugio coach want more comp and said they would play anyone anywhere? Line 'em up!

If it is La Marque will dominate in 3A. IMO, I don't think this will be much of a game.

Wanna put some money on it? John Tyler can and will beat La Marque, in my opinion..... La Marque lost a ton of players, while JT still has most of their team back including their QB.

Would be interesting to see the comparisons, if there are any? ;)

I guess the bulls-eye doesn't get any bigger at #1. To be perfectly honest with Aledo, LaVega, Amarillo (8-4, 5A playoff team last year), and whoever else we fill the schedule out with I doubt we come out of that non-district unscathed.

Not meaning to be argumentative, but I just don't think you replace players like Blakemore, Lambert and Smith. You may put somebody else in their position, but you don't replace them. Just saying that these guys played together for at least three years. Difficult to replicate that kind of chemistry that this group had.

Blakemore missed 5 games and did not play defense all year (except some plays in state game), Smith missed 8 games and played mostly defense until last 3 games with minimal carries and they still went 15 and 0. They all didnt play together for 3 years, Lambert moved here last year as a linebacker from Aledo and won QB spot over an undersized senior kid and next years QB was a soph. Most of the players for next year including the 9 that made all district have been playing togather since youth football and or jr high. Very good "team" players. Wimberley may have the best running back they have had since Buse in 05 and also a very good defense AGAIN. Need some young receivers to step up for sure or move a couple of other skill guys to receiver. Wimberley's program is amazing and players are there again for next year, IMO. I agree though that Smith and Blakemore are special as well as Alana.
