WC had a safety, Willis Johnson, who made the all state team this year. Kid should be even better next year

Kicker should be easy. Our super soph. Cole Hedland broke the national record for field goals in a season and also made 1st team all-state, as well as some other Texas and national all-whatever teams. I think he made the Soph. All-America team as the kicker. I think we can probably write his name in that space.( Argyle)

Kadarius Baker of Navasota should be a good one to watch. The senior to be was a first year starter in 2011 and went 12-2. His stats are pretty impressive. 269 passing attempts; 185 completions; 70.6 % passing efficiency; 3014 passing yards; 41 passing touchdowns: only 3interceptions; plus over 400 yards rushing.

This Baker kid has my vote for preseason all-state qb in the other thread. I think he is definitely a legit pick and should be seriously considered.

There you go r.e.

Gonzales has a safety back that made all-state this year... and a couple more that made all-state back for 2012...

Hey SHSBulldog00, what about Jake Raulerson of Celina as a pick? Should he go LB or OL? Maybe a Celina fan can help us with that.

The Jackets will have a few that should make the watch list as pre-season all-state players.

QB- Tyler Jones (I talked about him in the QB thread)
WR- Brice Gunter- The 6'3 195 wideout caught 70 balls for 1,128 yards and 15 TDs. He was the 8-4A Off. MVP and AP Hon. Mention all-state.
OT- Bryan Manley- The 6'4 275 Manley was 1st team 8-4A and AP Hon. Mention OL., and 2nd team OL on the TOC All DFW Team.
FS- Mookie Carlile- The Soph. FS collected 6 INTs enroute to the 8-4A Def. Newcomer and AP 2nd team All-State DB.

Another dark horse all-state caliber player for the Jackets will be DB Preston Brown. Brown played CB and KR for the Jackets last year as a Jr. He returned 2 kickoffs for TD, posted 50 tackles, 3 FF, 1 FR, and 2 blocked kicks. He is also one of the top 200m sprinters in the state. He has already won one fastest man competition at a football combine in Arizona this year. (http://247sports.com/Article/Semper-Fi-Proving-Ground-Top-10-55319)

I could definitely see him being there for offense IMO.

He should make it on offense, but not on def.......he will sign D1 as an OL so that is how he will be judged...

He won't be a LB. He plays DT and OL and was All-State 2nd team OL and Honorable Mention DT for 2011. He should be better this coming year. He already has several All American selections so things are trending in the right direction! \m/

From Stephenville I'd also add Witt Westbrook (22), he is a great athlete that over the past 2 years has stepped up and played every position the coach has asked him to play. He started the year as an LB but took over the RB roll after Edwards went down. He returned punts. Most games he played both ways during key downs.

Not sure if he will play Off of Def next year, but you can bet he great at whatever they ask him to do.

What about Marcus Villareal (12) from Alvarado as LB? He received honorable mention all-state in one poll. He had 180+ tackles for the season, including 13 in the state championship game. Not built like a prototypical LB but, he's tough as nails and always around the ball.

For Van these are the players to watch:

QB Garrett Smallwood - 3131 yards passing, 34 td's 7 int's
He played corner his freshman year and was injured his Soph. year so last season was basically his 1st year as a high school QB. He's very good.

D-line Sid Moore - 94 tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 8 sacks
With Santos gone I expect Sid to be double teamed constitantly. If not he will be in the backfield all game. To big, quick and strong for one player to handle.

Punter Chuy Alvarez 41.3 avg
Was 1st team all state punter this year. He was a very good kicker his soph. season as well but starting at corner last year seemed to hurt his kicking.

Floyd Bess - RB - West Columbia

Name one person who will be a house hold name in the coming years.

Floyd Bess (8th Grade QB right now)

Should be a special player in the coming years.

I used to be known as Necks_Fan, and in February 2008, I made this ^^^ post.

Now Floyd is being mentioned in the preseason all state selections.

I hate to say it, but i told you so.

Also said this "I'm wondering about an incoming FR QB/WR/ RB named Floyd Bess. I wonder if he will get some PT on varsity??" in june 2008.

I've been talking about this kid for the last 4 years and he's helped lead WC to the last 2 semifinal runs and this year is his senior year. Willing to bet this kid is gonna put up some sick numbers.

I believe Dante' Lemons from Sweeny will drop some jaws this year. Kid is a natural talent and gives 100% on every play. I just wish he would have stayed on the "good side" of the San Bernard!:stirpot:
