I know Tony was a big Creedence fan. Here's the last verse of their song "Hideaway":

All aboard, goodbye, goodbye, goodbye,
Oooh, I wish you well.
See you soon, maybe tomorrow.
You never can tell;

'cause you know, I'm gonna miss you
When you're gone, oh,
Wish I could hideaway

Rest in peace, my friend. You will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear this. Tony came to Wimberley in 2010 for the Sealy game. I met him early in the afternoon and took him around Wimberley to show him our town and the surrounding area. Once the Silver Cord is broken, Tony's spiritual body left to immediately be with the Lord. Now he is in his perfect body, his soul(intellect) and spirit(being) with the Father. One day soon we will all be joined together again, able to recogniize our loved ones and friends in our perfect everlasting spiritual bodies. We all have but one time in these flesh bodies "under the sun". We have free will to choose between right and wrong, good and evil, love and hate, while living in these flesh bodies. I didn't know Tony, but from what I was able to learn and gather from only this forum, I would say he is now in good standing with the Father. May his family and loved ones take these words from the Father's letter to us in the Bible in faith, believing they will be reunited with Tony in a time of total happiness to come.

The world, community, and this forum has lost a great man and true gentleman. Tony was the type guy that gave so much to this board and never looked for any recognition. To his family and close friends, my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Please try to remember that this is not only a sorrowful time for the loss of someone special, but, it is also a time to celebrate the life of a wonderful husband, father, and friend. May your hearts be filled with the joy of knowing that he is seated in the big stadium next to God and will be cheering loudly for each game next year.

A Pirate's Prayer
by Sir Frances Drake

Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.

We ask you to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.

Godspeed Tony

I, like so many others, only knew Tony from here but am particularly saddened by his passing. Even while he struggled with cancer, his commitment to his friends on this board was evident. His "fierce" friendship reflected a depth of character that is rare these days and will be missed. I am sure that we were only aware of a small sampling of the kind of man that Tony was and I want to thank the family for sharing him with us.

To Tony's family, accept the comfort and healing of the Holy Spirit and may God's blessing be upon you during this sad time.

I would like to add a few more personal words about Tony Knox.

From the time I became a member of this board and exchanged my first post with Tony, I knew this board was in good, capable, caring hands, and I wanted to be a part of it right away because of this man's obvious love of Texas high school athletics, and the kids who participate in it. This, plus the fact that Tony believed strongly in keeping the 3ADL a quality product and managed this board and its posters accordingly.

There were some board members who sometimes felt that Tony had too much of a strong hand in dealing with them, but I can assure you it was a fatherly discipline intended only to make the board better and to ensure its perpetuation. Tony accepted the responsiblity of making the hard decisions, always keeping the welfare of this board uppermost in his mind while trying to be fair, and still finding time to participate with his considerable insights and humor when he could.

I never had the honor and privelege of shaking Tony's hand, but over the years we developed a friendship thru exchanging forum posts and PM's. Tony was only 3 months younger than I, and as a result we shared many of the same values and old-school philosophies about sports and life and talked about these things many times.

From all the friends and family posts we can gather that Tony was a man of high values, a good and loving husband, father, and grandfather who served his God, his country, and his fellow friends and board members very well during his lifetime.

I will remember and miss my friend, Tony Knox.

You missed out big time.

Tony was a great friend. I knew him and worked with him side by side for almost 10 years for Motorola.

The one thing I always admired about him was his effort. He was a leader by example...and worked his tail off non-stop.

He also loved this 3adownlow site. It was his 2nd proffession...I used to listen to hours and hours of him talking about it...and I guarantee that no one put more into this board than him. He spent $1,000's of his own money and hours of his own time evolving the site to what it is today. No one can make that claim today.

I highly reccomend that a memorial be posted on the main site in his honor.

This was posted on Tony's Facebook page and explains a little of our relationship:
Tony, I am glad I got to know you. You were someone I looked up to. You deserved it. You helped, when I was at Tech School, explain things that my professors couldn't. Any crazy idea I came up with(electronics or anything else), you helped be an even keel and had the heart of a teacher when letting me know if something was plausible or not.
How could I appreciate Credence if I didn't know you? I couldn't. You opened my eyes on so much more than just this.
You helped me to become a better man.
When I wanted to be antagonistic, you would say, "Hold on there, buddy..." When I wanted to be an a$$ to others, you would say, "Wait a minute, think this out..."
When I thought I came up with the perfect HS football rating system, you said, "Well Daniel, you DO know you might have left out this stat that might help your formula..."
Many times when I heard those words from other people, I would take a bit of offense. But not from you Tony. You had a way of making me understand and feel you were truly being constructive of your critique.
Thank you for being my friend! You will be sorely missed Tony. Rest in Peace Buddy.
