While I preferred certain aspects of both Padilla's and Stepp's mock alignments, this is not too bad. From a travel perspective I would have preferred to keep Brownwood instead of adding Monahans - 205 miles each way on Tues/Fri (basketball, baseball, ...) is going to be a beating! That said, Brownwood to Midland Greenwood would have been just as bad.

The bottom line is that it is getting really difficult to put together reasonably sized 3A & 4A districts in West Texas. Take a look at San Angelo Lakeview's district -- their closest game is 190 miles!

San Angelo Central doesn't have it much better...

Personally, I think there is the possibility that two or three teams from this district will not make the playoffs that could win a few other region 3 districts. Am I wrong?

I happen to think you are right.
