this may be the first poll I've seen all year in which Burnet was not #1.

All I can say is there are people out there with greater statistical facts than you seem to think you possess. I find it reassuring that this polster uses numbers and facts rather than collected opinions of Burnet bashers. You say it is all in fun, however I think that if any pollster analyzed your post throughout this season, they may pin down some interesting patterns. J/K, or am I?

Exactly what makes you think they couldnt. I can't believe the pedastel you guys think automaticly comes with 4A or 5A status. I think the ensueing responses will bear the fact that you think they have hairier chest and bigger jocks. they are all still just 16. 17. or 18yr old kids.

I live in Longview, and I've seen Tyler Lee, Lufkin, and Longview play. No 3A team in the nation could beat all of them, and maybe only a few 4A teams could compete. They are all very talented and well coached football programs. Burnet is very good, and may do very well in 4A in a few years, but they would not go to the playoffs in district 11-5A, and there are only 4 teams, and IMHO they would probably go winless in district play.

I agree, if you ever watched 11-5A football my gooness its just a heartbreaker knowing your team doesnt have this kind of talent, they have some 3rd stringers that could take out top 10 3a teams easily.

Amen, Hupernikomen! With the caliber teams that Lufkin, Tyler Lee, and Longview all are and not be mentioned at all anywhere in the top 10? Lufkin only has one loss on the season and was #1 in the state in 5a until they suffered that loss. Supposedly, they dropped to the #6 spot. I'm not sure of Tyler Lee's and Longview's ratings, but I know they both are outstanding 5a teams and are rated in the top 10 in 5a. Any three of these 11-5a teams would more than likely give Burnet a licking and just keep on ticking!

burnet really is frickin awesome and that is a big compliment to burnet to be put up that high in an overall poll like that. people from burnet should be proud. i would if it was bellville. With that said, i wouldn't put money on them even competing with a lot of the 5a/4a teams that are under them. those lineman in 5a are just so massive, not to mention the 5a teams have depth and fresh legs (subs) that could all easily compete with first string burnet... it's just a matter of the number of student they have. they would wear them down.

The linemen of the larger schools would wear down any small school. Shipley and McGee are definitely DI school starters, but they couldn't get much done if the line couldn't block the behemoth linemen of larger schools.

Buckeye80,

I understand it was a very good game last Friday between Lufkin and Longview. You guys have an outstanding team. Best of luck to you in the future! Your team is good, real good. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Regarding 3a, I try and overlook some of the more "boastful" statements, although they do tend to get on one's nerves. The majority of the posts are quite humble. There are only a few, that I have read, that come across with an attitude. It only takes one bad apple, though, to ruin it. At the same time, I imagine any one of us would do the same if it were our team who wins year in and year out. Some are more humble about their success than others, so it is an easier pill to swallow. I'm just wondering, haven't they ever heard that you gather more bees with honey than you do with vinegar? I think all anyone wants to see is a GRACIOUS winner, and loser, for that matter. That's whats called, Sportsmanship.

I think all anyone wants to see is a GRACIOUS winner, and loser, for that matter. That's whats called, Sportsmanship. On that you are 100% correct. Let me clarify something quicky; yes I live in Longview, but I support my Buckeyes always. I do support the Lobos, but really have never been much of a 5A connosieur. I mostly stick with what I know: 3A. There really is no place in high school athletics for "bragging", "boasting", and "trash talking" as the kids call it now. I applaud programs whose coaches are mature and confident enough to let their teams' play speak for them. BUT, there also are times at the high school and sometimes even college levels when the COACHING deserves the moniker of "bad sportsmanship". I think the days of leaving everything on the field and then "leaving everything on the field" are just about to bid us all "adieu", and I really hate that.
