in another post Burnet claims to have already sold 8,000 tix. with walkups thats 10,000 i'm sure (thats what they draw at home anyway, right?). add the 6,000 from the marlin metropolis = 16,000 ???

now do you see why i say these estimates are way out of whack ?!?!?! get real .....

I'm going to the game with some eX teammates and have no preference whatsoever. Maybe Marlin because like he said there the underdog but that's it. Hope i don't have to stand the whole game.

Believe or Not, I wouldn't doubt that many people traveling that far for the game...

If they won't travel to see Marlin, I can guarantee they'll travel to see Burnet

Sealy brought 7,000 to Cuero in '99 (atleast), and that's almost 100 mile trip...

I'm sure Marlin loves their football just as much...

It happens... Just because it doesn't happen where you're at, doesn't mean it doesn't happen anywhere...

YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED ABOUT HOW TALK OF THIS GAME HAS SPREAD AROUND TOWN. COME TO MARLIN AND U WILL SEE THE TOWN SPIRIT. THE LST TIME I SAW SPRIT LIKE THIS WAS LAST YEAR WHEN WE PLAYED BELLVILLE IN THE PLAY-OFFS.AND AS FAR AS THE CROWD GOES U DONT EVEN WANT TO SEE THE CROWD NEXT WEEK. IF U DONT KNOW ITS THE REAMATCH OF DAVID VS GOLIATH. AND I KNOW ITS EXPECTING OVER 15,000

hey, i'm from forney and the people here follow the rabbits as well as any 3A town, bar none. but the numbers you guys are throwing out just dont make sense. state title games don't draw that. but, regardless, it will be a zoo and there will be lots of folks. lets just hope the game lives up to the hype ... i'm out.

by the way, burnet wins 35-14. :D

If you've never seen it, then you don't know...

trust me, i've seen BIG crowds for HS football games. and small crowds. estimating crowds is a crapshoot. i can't do it accurately and i've been attending playoff games the pasy 25+ years. who can? the crowds reported for most games are estimated by the reporters who cover them. are they accurate? who knows ... but the odds are 100X greater they'll fudge up instead of down.

Well, the Cuero stadium can hold close to (prolly not exactly) 10k... (It's an old JuCo stadium)...

For the Sealy/Cuero game (Sealy #1 Cuero #2) in '99 they had to bring in extra bleacher (those held around 500 maybe)... The fences around the stadium were crowded, people were standing behind people along the fence all the way around the game...

12k tickets were redeemed at the gate...

Thought Marlin's not the #2 team in the state, they're still gunna pack the house at Burnet...

Put it this way, if you plan on robbing some houses in Marlin or Burnet this Friday night, you should have no problem... You could prolly get away with both towns...

This is Texas and We take our football serious, last year My father and I wactched Mcgregor and Rosebud-Lott,instead of Marlin vs Lorena, good thing we got there early, Highschool Football, is the last pure thing about football, no shoe contract, no greedy owners, trying to move a team from a city, for personal profit, and no Las Vegas Spreads, just plain ole football.

It WILL be a mad house for sure. As for traveling 4000 - 6000 people, it can be done. I am not an official bean counter but I venture to say Burnet is traveling that many. With a game like this, it would not surprise me at all. Like I have said before, if you miss this game, you will wish you hadn't. Have a safe trip to all that are travelling to and from the game. I am just glad that I just have to walk across the street!! Good luck and my the best DAWG win!

You are right. It is a slice of heaven. That is why I don't miss any of the games. Hard to get it out of the blood. Besides, with the lights on, I can't quite go to bed (too bright)!

no prob, I've seen some of the numbers at the Burnet stadium. I was kinda struck by how many folks were on the home side. In SOTX I hadn't seen that many in that big a home side for 3A. I do understand where you are coming from 3afan.

Burnet did not take anywhere near those numbers to Marlin or Wimberly last year, and I doubt that Burnet will take that many to Bandara or Ennis this year.

Paintball, think before ya speak. Burnet didn't and doesn't play Ennis.

And I know the fan count is unconceivable to some from a town of 5000, but the fan base is much more than just the city of Burnet. For example, I have friends and family that come from Aledo, S.A., Temple, Lampasas to the games, and some of them are season ticket holders.
