I always wondered why people check the gas mileage of their cars, not like you can do anything to change it. If you drive all over town looking for the cheapest price and save $2.50 on a fill-up did you really accomplish anything?

I am not not trying to make light of your thread just thinking out loud. :)

Or like the people that will wait in line for an hour with their car running to save 50 cents on some crazy deal.

I used to always fill completely up then check my MPG. I always got about 1 mpg less using wal mart gas.

Why pay so much for gasoline? You can get Propane for $2.30 right now, get the same gas mileage, have an engine that lasts twice as long, make your engine oil last 20% longer and since it is about the greenest fuel, save the environment at the same time. Sounds like a winner, huh?:)

How does the coolness of propane effect engine?

How does the coolness of propane effect engine?

What additives? You burn nothing but pure clean propane.

There is no effect on the "coolness", what the engine uses is a heavy vapor, not the liquid form.

Trump said it would hit $5.00/gal. before the year is out, but I just don't see it going that high now. Things could change that though. Have you seen the prices rising in the grocery store? Kinda scary and gets you thinking about ETF currencies. I'd hate to wake up one day and find out my money just got devalued in half overnite.

I'm waiting for hurricane season in a couple of months. Once Jim Cantore spots a depression in the gulf and starts standing on the beach with a rain coat the the oil companys will start jacking the price.

The price sure shot up quick, didn't it! Now at 3.37/gal. at most stations in McAllen. I think we may not ever see it below 3.00 again. I hope I'm wrong. I drive a Toypta Tundra(made in San Antonio) with a small V-8. The truck has a 22 gal. tank, and when it's full, I can go approx. 335 miles on a trip at 70-75 mph. This breaks down to approx. 16 mpg. highway, and only about 12 in the city. Using 14 mpg as the median fuel mileage, I can compute the real cost of gas per mile to drive this truck. It is costing me approx. 25cents per mile for every mile I drive this truck per year. If I put 20,000 miles on the odometer this year, that breaks down to an annual fuel cost of approx. $5000.00. My son's Hyundai Sonata gets about double this mileage, so his real cost is approx. 1/2 of mine for the same miles driven. This is today's math lesson and wallet breaker, lol.
