A long way from the double overtime thriller against the 3-7 Taylor Ducks...is it not. I believe you were on the field for that game. You gave kudos to the Texans and Ducks for respectful sportsman like play and it was on display again today in the Championship game. I love the way these kids attempt to respect their opponents on the field despite playing very hard.

Congrates to the Texans and their coaches on winning the state championship. What a ride huh? Very proud of our boys. Band, cheerleaders, team managers, fans all were awesome. I stayed for the LT game and no doubt Wimberley fans blow them away, standing screaming and yelling. What about Jerryworld itself! Wow.

Great win for region four! I Love Wimberley. More pictures Mima’s LOL.

Four Texans who don't get enough credit...

-- Colby Kelley, FB/DE. The kid just personifies the term "reckless abandon." When we line up in the I formation, I tell my wife to watch the fullback if we hand it to the tailback, because if there's a defender in the hole, he's going to get obliterated. Also, it's no coincidence that he got the carry on the 3rd down clincher yesterday. He's just a beast. There has to be a place in D-1 college football for a kid like him.

-- Paige Blakemore, Patron Saint of Wimberley Football. I don't know her, but I've heard enough about her to know that if you're a kid in Wimberley, she will love you and she will bend over backwards to help you. Any success Dennis Smith has in life will be primarily due to the support and love that Paige has shown him. And Dennis isn't the only one, just the one that required the most of her patience.

-- Alden Mann, G/LB. Probably my favorite kid on the team. What a heart to play offensive line at his size. Probably the best tackler on defense. Just a freakin' football player.

-- Dick Smith, DC. Big man with a big heart and a big brain for defense. We won in 2005 on his defense, and we won this year on his defense. We had spent the first five weeks of the playoffs defending teams who only pass out of desperation, then we run into Argyle? What a chore to have to go back to a scheme that you haven't run in six weeks, and what an accomplishment to play it almost flawlessly. I was in awe.

Thank you, Texans, for a wonderful season. What a ride.

Congratulations Texans on your State Championship.

Hopefully we will get to see ya'll again next year. We have tried Baylor and Bastrop, I think next year Brenham would be a good spot for the Coldspring/Wimberley "Semifinal" Game.

I only got to see two Wimberley games this year (coldspring and argyle), but they were the better team in both games and definitely deserve to be the Champions.
Congratulations

3 Championships!!!

Yeah, in 2005 The Wimberley Texans won the 3A State Championship, but about a month earlier the 11-12yr old CFPO youth championship was played at Bobcat Stadium at Texas State University and won by the Wimberley team (Texans). I remember a bunch of us were saying, "when these boys are jrs. and srs. in high school, they might win it all again in the State Championship!!!
Well 10 of those boys were in Cowboy Stadium playing for the Wimberley Texans Friday and did!!! Wow so proud of a bunch boys (men) playing football all this time and achieving what every HS football player dreams of. I am so proud.

Great way to end the season!! The stars for Wimberley shined, Smith put on a show and Blakemore made up for a rare drop with a spectacular catch to seal the game. Argyle never quit and were a class act, two very classy teams to showcase 3A in the championship. Proud of our guys for stepping up after the Taylor game and playing their best ball of the season and the defense earning the Code Red name because they played lights out the past 4 weeks. Great season guys, very proud to be a Texan!!

A true Small Town Texas football story. How proud we all are of these boys/men! And guess what? We have another crew coming up the pipeline that rival this group, and the '05 group as well, who also grew up playing together. We watched Cibolo Steele play/lose last night on Southwest sports and after the game they talked about the Wimberley win and showed clips of the game. It was surreal to say the least, wow, what a win. Argyle was a much validated SC playoff team, beating a murders row of Prosper, Carthage and Gilmer to get there. The Eagles lived up to their billing, great team. Very proud of our boys, they’re a top tier team in many ways.

Southwest sports on Time Warner (channel 54) will replay the game this Friday at 0800.

Congrats to the Texans. I was curious how many guys are back off this years team, seems like a lot of these guys should be seniors this year.

They have 2 starting O-linemen coming back. 2 RB's coming back. The safety will most likely move to QB. No experienced receivers coming back. 4 D-linemen coming back. 2 starting LB's and 1 other OLB with reasonable playing time coming back. All new secondary as safety will move over to QB. Several kids that played special teams will fill some of these holes. This year was a senior laden class.

Yes but, I was also responsible for the visitors side going ONE and two on Thursday. Go Melissa!!!!

Would that be the same as 1 of 3? Are you kidding? 1 of 6 in 2 days. That's not a very good %. Man, I bet some one puts a bulls-eye on your back next year. haha All of the Coaches are going to be wanting to know where G2 is going to be sitting, and saying "put us on the other side"?

Put it that way and all of the boys will want to be on that side.

For those of you from Wimberley and the readers of this board that didn't see my belated posting on the game thread, please allow me to congratulate the Wimberley Texans for winning this year's DII State Football Championship. As stated in the other thread, my son had plans after the game that left me out of pocket until today. It was a wonderful experieince for the entire Argyle contingent, despite not capturing the title. It has happened to us before, and we realize how special it is to actually win a state championship in any endeavor in the State of Texas. My son and I enjoyed the game immensely from the 50 yd. line about 8 rows up on the field level. For anyone who hasn't yet been able to attend a state championship game in Jerryworld, I would urge you to do so. Probably the best football facility in the world, and a "must" for the die-hard football fan. We all should feel very fortunate to have this kind of system in place here in Texas for our high school athletes to experience. It's truly the center of the universe for high school football at its greatest hour. And the Wimberley Texans reign supreme atop the Texas State High School Football Championships for 3A Division II in a perfect 15-0 undefeated season for 2011. Your team and town represents all that is cherished in this sport, and upholds the high expectations and hallowed tradition every team strives to accomplish. Wear your Crown proudly Wimberley. You are now royalty among the football elite.

I'm watching the Wim re-play on Fox Sports. And, they interviewed Nelms at half and he noted not sure he ever seen Blakemore drop a pass like that. Then, he stated---Blakemore will make a big play in the second half. Damn if he didn't.

Shipley noted about Nelms being a start player when he played, and could of played pro ball. Where did Nelms play HS ball and college ball at?

He also pointed out, Nelms already had his hips replaced. My bad, I thought I heard he was needing a hip replacement. One tough dude to grind out coaching with chronic arthritis pain.

You notice thast Argyle seems a bit more tired than Wimberley in the 3rd going into the 4th Quarter? I think this had a lot to do with the end result..maybe there were more sick than previously said.

I see that. That Argyle fumble out of endzone, and the strip fumble ruled a non-fumble sure was big too for WT. Smith sure pulled away from defender on that TD pass, huh? Lambert placed it perfectly.

Hey YT you know where the Coaches' All-District 26-3A football list could be found? I've seen parts and pieces but not the whole list.

No, all I see is bit's from mysa.com, but--not a complete list. I'll keep searching.

Damn, Blakemore's pick looks more impressive on the reply I just seen. Game saver upon second review. Pass could of gone for a TD had he not picked it off.

Congratulations to Brennan Blakemore for being named as Player of the Year to the Austin American All Centex Team. What a year he had and what an impact player. Most exciting player I have seen in years. Made ridiculous catches all year long, but the interception was just unbelievable.

These stats show that only Alvarado had a higher rated defense, and by a decent margin too. Chapel Hill shows a weaker defense by about the same margin, but a much stronger offense than Wimberley. That would have been a great game!!!!
