How can a player lead the district in tackles and have 188 tackles for the year and not be 1st team.

It could have to do with the fact that Marcus (I assume that's who you are talking about) had an incredible run in the playoffs to get to 188 tackles - these are voted on before the playoffs start. Also, if (and I have no idea) he had a couple bad games at some point, some of the district coaches may not have voted for him just because of how he played against them. No doubt though - Marcus was a force to be reckoned with - especially in the playoffs and will be a monster on that defense next year.

Craziest thing about the all-district team is that you had a FB earning first team all-district running back honors, which never happens, and a sophomore DEFENSIVE END earning newcomer of the year. You don't see too many newcomer of the year awards for defensive linemen.

Congrats to both ... and the great thing is all three of these kids will be back next year!

Im confused why Onderndonk got district MVP and Burtcher got offensive MVP when Burtcher played offense and defense and Onderdonk only played offense. Not to take anything away from him because he was extremely valuable to the Indians. Just dont understand the whole proccess there. Maybe it was a I give you this if you give me that. Good ole fashioned politics.:D

Isn't the poster who started this thread an Alavarado coach? Why not ask him? Just a thought...

I led the district in tackles my senior year. And i led the state (by safties) in tackles, and only got 2nd team. And I asked the same question and I was told the coaches cant take stats in there...

But i inow marcus isnt like that so I don't know why he didn't get the votes he had a great year

How can a player lead the district in tackles and have 188 tackles for the year and not be 1st team. Ramsey tell him to keep his head up and don't let that get him down, I felt the same way when my son R.L. had the kind of year he had and as small as he was to put those kind of numbers up as yours did and get screwed!! But in the end we both know how they played and how proud we are of them both, and you can never take that away from a Dad and a son. It will be in your heart forever...
