I didn't think the Alverado by 14 pick was right. I had Averado over Chill in my bracket but 14 points over the season long #1 team?

At the beginning of the playoffs on 11-08-11 Massey's top 10 looked like this:

Alvarado, 1, D1
Coldspring, 3,D2
Gilmer, 2, D2
Wimberley, 4, D2
Chapel Hill, 3, D1
Celina, 2, D1
Snyder, 1, D2
Argyle, 2, D2
Seminole, 1, D1
Prosper, 2, D2
Going into this weekend's games Masssey's top 10 had changed since Argyle had defeated Prosper, Carthage and Gilmer and Alvarado had pretty soundly defeate Henderson and Seminole. Chapel Hill had played some close games and not been dominant. I can see where the numbers would be inclined to move Alvarado to the top.

1. Alvarado
2. Argyle
3. Gilmer
4. Chapel Hill
5. Coldspring
6. Wimberley
7. Henderson
8. Celina
9. Carthage
10. Seminole

However, on my original post, I stated that I thought that two TDs was a little too much. I know Chapel Hill was starting to get well and getting some starters healthy from injury. The program does not consider that at all. I think it is significant that without that knowledge, and just relying on game scores and generating a strength of schedule that Massey produces some pretty good results. It will be interesting to see where Massey has the teams ranked after this weekend. At this point in the season, to find out statisticly which team is the "best" you might need to play a best of 7 series. Obviously, that won't happen. Breaks, calls, health, confidence, conditions, travel, and dumb luck can all make a difference in a single game. That is why we play and enjoy the game so much. What great drama when two evenly matched teams go at it for 48 minutes and the outcome is in doubt until the last play. Love it!
