ESPN has just reported that Houston, New Orleans and LA are discussing the possibility of a three-team trade that would send Chris Paul to the Lakers and Pau Gasol to the Rockets.

The Hornets would receive either Luis Scola or Kevin Martin, and possibly both, as well as draft picks. Houston owns the New York Knicks' first-round pick from 2012, as well as its own.

The rumors are that Houston would then pursue Nene after securing Gasol.

That would be great! I hope it happens.

I love Derek Fisher but I think it's time to move on from him being the starting PG.

This just in

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to surrender Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom in a trade for New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Sources close to the process tell Stein that the Houston Rockets remain part of the talks and are trying to complete a deal that would send Gasol to Houston and the Rockets' Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic to New Orleans along with Odom.

this would be the worst trade ever for Houston.

I wouldnt trade Scola or Martin for Gasol straight up, much less both of them AND dragic. geez

I know that I am missing something, but why in the HELL are the Rockets willing to give up so much for Gasol?

The Rockets need a number one guy. Nobody in this deal--except maybe Paul--is that guy.

My fear is that Gasol will make the Rockets about as successful as he made Memphis.

Oh AND the Rockets are gonna give up their rights to the Knicks' 2012 first round pick.

3 players and a draft pick for Gasol? ***

rockets, with this deal, were going to have HUGE cap space next offseason when howard and deron williams were up on the market. i think this is why houston wanted to make this deal, go all in for free agency next year, and if they failed at that, trade gasol and rebuild

Very foolish! You never trade your future but they just did. :(

Although this whole deal is kind of screwy from a number of different positions I understand why the league has to apply the brakes on this thing! I understand why some of the other owners are pissed about it. In the first place the league runs the Hornets organization so for the Hornet's ownership (the NBA) to make a decision to execute a trade that helps OTHER teams is kind of a conflict of interest. Their responsibility is to do what is best for ALL teams and not be biased in any way. No Hornet trades should be allowed until someone other than the NBA owns that team. At least all other owners in the league should be consulted and have to give their consent!

from what i've heard:

morey and the lakers gm had been talking to demps about this trade for weeks, with absolutely zero indication it could be vetoed. had been told that demps was THE guy in new orleans, that he made the final decision

rockets have spent three years getting assets together for a big trade. if they get gasol, i almost could have guaranteed that nene would have signed in houston. instead, nba decides 'nope'

so now, rockets two best players are going to feel betrayed, rockets spent three years gathering assets for nothing since they are probably not going to have another chance to trade for a star, and it's probably time to go into full on rebuild mode

heard morey might quit, wouldn't blame him. there was ZERO indication pre-trade, in weeks of talks, that nba might veto it. complete bs.
