DMN says offer was pulled:

What looked like a certainty earlier Wednesday afternoon has since fallen through. SMU coach June Jones will not be Arizona State's head football coach, according to multiple reports.

According to ESPN's Joe Schad, Jones had actually agreed to coach the Sun Devils when a call came in that his offer to coach Arizona State had been pulled. Multiple reports state Arizona State boosters were not behind the potential hiring of Jones.

This is the second time Arizona State has negotiated with a coach only to pull out in the middle of the process. The Sun Devils had previously discussed the job with Houston coach Kevin Sumlin.

We'll have more on this developing story.

Looks like Coach Jones may have dodged a bullet. That type of school shouldn't be too attractive to a good coach with the way they do business.

So what does Jones do now? Does he go back and look the kids and administration at SMU in the eyes and say "just kidding"?

Would SMU really not want him? I would find that hard to believe. They might need to make the job more attractive to keep him though.

as far as I know he only accepted the job, he had not told the players or anything.

Kinda sounds like to me SMU kicked in a new set of shoes for Jones to stay! $$$$$$$$$

Was very surprised they pulled the offer off the table last minute like that.
