I haven't posted about this before, but 2012 will be the first year Grayson County hasn't had a 3A or an equivalent-level school since 1971.

Van Alstyne and Whitesboro will drop to 2A, and so will Pilot Point, whose school district overlaps into the county. Pottsboro was 3A for years but dropped a few years ago. Everyone else other than Sherman and Denison are longtime 2As, except Collinsville, which is doing pretty well as a 1A for as long as I've known them.

The reason I say equivalent-level is everybody had an A added in 1980, so 1A schools before that are 2A now, etc.

So all the area 3As like Celina, Gainesville, and Bonham that I follow will be out of county in 2012. I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 went their separate ways, and I will be highly disappointed.
