Another 'hot of the press' from the Victoria Advocate

AUSTIN - Jose Gutierrez kicked a 26-yard field goal with 6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to lift Austin Travis to a 15-12 win over Gonzales on Thursday night at Burger Field.

Travis improved to 1-3 on the season, while the Apaches dropped to 2-2.

The game was played on a soggy field and Gonzales lost starting quarterback Josh Gray to an injury in the first quarter.

Gray completed two of his five passes for 31 yards. He had twice had receivers in the end zone slip while attempting to catch a pass.

The Rebels took a 12-0 lead in the second quarter on a 1-yard run by quarterback Robert Williamson and a 57-yard run by running back Kenny Williams.

Gonzales made it 12-6 on a 1-yard run by Blaine Hill with 6:35 left in the third quarter. The Apaches tied the game on a 22-yard pass from David Schautteet to Kash Greathouse with 7:15 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Gobbla2001's notes - IF the QB's injury is really serious, this could mean Gonzales might not make the playoffs, which would put Cuero in D1, which means NO RICE CONSOLIDATED... And also means... gulp... Burnet.......
