Besides throwing away my very next paycheck at the boats, the only thing that changed was it seemed like I had fewer adult beverages...

And I saw Tone Loc at the Malibu in Shreveport.

However cell phones were too expensive so hardly anyone owned one, and the "internet" as we know it was still a couple years away..but a form of it existed mostly for hardcore geeks.

in 1988? the portable phones that i knew of, were actually transmitting to relay towers..on vhf radio waves..and the internet may have existed in some primitive fashion, but at that time i had never heard about it.

but i do remember southlake running, and i do mean running all over navasota in the final...and somehow southlake got past daingerfield and that east texas speed that year in the regional! lol!

Make sure you have a friend who's also 21 with you when you try to order a pitcher at the back bar at the Chicken. Back in the day, we could buy a pitcher for $4.15 and a smile at age 17. Now you have to have two people over 21, $7.50, give up your first born and donate a kidney just to get a luke warm pitcher of out of date Bud Light that's been sitting in the local grocery store's meat fridge and was sold to the Chicken because they knew it would sell quick. Be careful my friend.....
