I think my Trojans got this one. The defense will do what it's been doing and I think the offense will come alive this week.

Lorena

Stout defense. Defends the run well since mid-season. Have central texas leading tackler and the 5th leading tackler (see Waco Trib Stats), in a pool which includes 2A-5A.

Offense - multiple weapons - very balanced. Defeated 10-0 Fairfield with a run-heavy offense. Defeated Rusk with a heavy dose of passing, topped off with 150 yards of ground offense to deplete the clock and still score. Week 8 move-up sophomore has rushed for over 1500 yards and passed for over 1000 at 6'0 210lbs. Experienced sr. qb near the top of central texas passing list. Have a 3-qb system. Pick one.

At 5-5 late season, they do not take anyone lightly.

A few seasons ago, Coldspring met Lorena in College Station. Coldspring, IMO, was the better team, but, Lorena won the game in a thrilling comeback.

With that said, I will go with Coldspring, but, if Lorena has the heart that they had then, this will be a close game.

I will be there Friday night to see Coldsprings take that next step to the BIG SHOW. Lorena has not seen the type of speed Coldsprings brings to the table. The game will be a lot faster than they faced with those Central Texas lightweights in their district. Coldsprings by 20 in this one.

Don't forget that Lorena played in the same district with La Vega. I am rootin for Coldspring but the Trojans must play their A game.

I know nothing about Lorena. Last week I saw a very talented Coldspring team beat a good Bellville team in overtime. I will take Coldspring in this one 35-0. That is based on only seeing Coldspring and how they played against Bellville.

I will say that if Coldspring plays with discipline I don't see many teams hanging with them. But penalties and turnovers count so you never know some times in the playoffs.

I kind of laugh when I read "I know nothing about .... But I take my team 35 to 0."

Either way, i take Lorena 55 to 7 as it is as good of a guess as any as I don't know anything about Coldspring. I wore Leopard red in Huntsville last week and it felt pretty good.

See my Leopard friends in Brenham tomorrow!!!! Look for me, I will be the guy in Red.

I was impressed by Coldspring last friday, they have some very good athletes and play with intensity across the board. I don't know a lot about Lorena, but if you look at who they played this year and how well they played against some very good teams, they lost to La Vega 27-20......they are battle tested, deserve to be in this game, and not to be taken lightly. Coldspring hasn't had any real tests until the last 2-3 weeks, and have learned how to adjust to stronger competition.
My gut tells me that the Coldspring defense will hold Lorena to a TD and that they will break some plays on offense or special teams.
I am gonna take Coldspring by 14 in the one.

I know a lot of the Bellville players, and quite a few Bellville fans will be making the trip to Brenham to watch the Trojans this Friday.

Or, as is usual for this time of year Lorena steps up their play! I don't think you can discount the Leopards level of play and what they have done. Coldspring had 2 big scoring plays and Lorena played a solid defensive game otherwise.

Great game from both teams. Great weather for football! We are blessed to have both this weekend!

Gratz Coldspring! Hope to see you next week in the Quarters if WO-S gets things done. I may actually make it to that game if it happens.

Way to go Trojans!

Advice to Coldspring:

Never attempt another pass. One reception and 4 interceptions will get you out on your ear quick! It's not like Lorena had a smothering pass defense, the ball was just thrown straight to the defender more than once.
Fix the illegal procedure problems. It killed more than 1 drive.
Find another running play other than between the tackles.
Keep up the DL pressure on the running game but find a way to get to the QB in passing situations. Lorena had all night to try to find a receiver but too many well thrown passes were dropped.

All this is based on seeing CS play once but IMO a team with a strong passing game will be a real problem for the Trojans. With that being said, Good Luck to CSO Trojans!!!!!

Congrats to the Trojans for another win! 304 yards and 2 TD's, Gilbert is a beast! And defense wins Championships, doesn't matter if it is one point or a hundred, a win is a win! you guys have to get the turnovers to nil, asap! Good luck next week, and keep on rolling!
