Wow, Iowa Park must have really lost some kids when WF City View opened up a few years ago. They used to have at least 600+ kids in high school.
Question- Why isn't Lake Worth growing? Being so close to Ft. Worth... just outside Loop 820, you would think their school population would grow.

Prediction- Decatur to see 4A if they keep growing the way they are. Wylie's numbers in junior high avg. about 225 to 250 a class, could see them with a big jump as well.

Lake Worth's growth will come...they are still building out there..but it'll happen....by next realignment I am willing to be you'll see Lake Worth over 600 or so....

WOW!! I had no idea that Greenwood would be smallest in our district!!

Decatur will be 4A next realignment. They had almost 200 less students than Gainesville when they were in the same district back in 2000--and that was when Gainesville had about a school population of around 790-800.

Oops wrong button! Matthew328, the weirdest thing is happening @ LW. They are growing by leaps and bounds but mainly commercial and retail. They had to go out and annex a new sub-division that would have been in the Boswell ISD. Years ago they did the same thing to a 10 square block area 2 ISD's away. All this to keep from going 2A. The upside is that we have more to do in a town of 4500 approx. than towns 5 times larger.

Wow, all I can say is I hope Decatur and Bridgeport still play each other after Decatur moves up to 4a!

And I am sure Carrolton Ranchview's tenure in 3A will last only one alignment cycle. That is only 9th and 10th graders in that number...

Good job Matt! But where is Region 4?

Ft. Stockton has lost a ton since the last reallignment. I wonder how long it will be until Big Spring, Andrews, and some of the Lubbock schools are in 3A.

None of the Lubbock schools are even near 4A, much less 3A, enrollment--unless you're including Lubbock Cooper and Lubbock Roosevelt as "Lubbock Schools." I think Roosevelt is already 2A and Cooper's enrollment isn't that high, I don't think.

There WAS talk of Lubbock Estacado dropping to 3A if the numbers worked out just right--but that didn't happen.

What is crazy is that Lubbock ISD is shrinking and Frenship ISD is growing. Wolfforth Frenship should be 5A next alignment if things keep going the way they are.

Wow...Sweetwater has lost a lot of kids in the last 10 years.

Their last year in 4A, I remember speaking to a high school science class there with only about 7 kids in it.

At one time I heard Sweetwater was one of the fastest shrinking towns in the nation......Drove past there a year or two ago and their downtown area was empty...looked very depressning...Just not a lot of industry or new jobs to attract new residents....most young people there are looking to leave....go to Abilene, Lubbock or DFW........sounds a lot like most small towns in West Texas.....without new industry you get no new residents...

About 10 years ago on the edge of Sweetwater, an old drive in theater tried to revive business by showing porn. I know a Grandmother with a story of accidently taking her grandson to the "Sex Million Dollar Man".

I guess the sheep were entertained...

Lol, never heard that one before. Funny stuff. A few years ago Sweetwater did receive the "honor" of being the fastest shrinking town in the state or something like that. I have heard back in the 80's the High School had 1000-1100 students. I wonder how long the school will be able to compete in football if the enrollment keeps dropping as fast. One side note, Sweetwater is the last 4A school from West Texas to win a state title.

It was in 1991, Sweetwater won 35-7. If I remember correctly, that game was at the Bowl, right? How did Sweetwater manage to get Everman to come out here. Times have changes. Sweetwater wouldnt want to step foot on the same field as Everman the last few years.

It was 1991.......and I believe Everman lost the flip that year.....not really anything neutral between Everman and Sweetwater....except maybe Wichita Falls.......Everman chose Clark Stadium as their home field I think.....if I remember correctly Everman had a long TD run called back early and got a punt blocked for a TD that really turned that game....in any case Sweetwater was a better team...woulda been real tough for that Everman team to knock off Sweetwater especially in the Bowl.....I think the current Sweetwater teams would hold their own against Everman....maybe not the 2 state title teams..but the 2000 and 2003 Mustangs could definatley hang with Everman..

Reading college previews, Sweetwater's Willie Amos has been moved from DB to WR for his senior year at Nebraska. I remember watching him perfom in the jump rope group when he was a junior at Sweetwater. Seemed like a nice kid....

One another note, when Sweetwater won the 4A title in 1985, it was also the same year they were hit by an F3 tornado. That is also the last fatal tornado for the Abilene/Sweetwater area....

That tornado is one of the earliest memories I have. Coach Stapler also resigned that year.

I think last years Sweetwater team could have beaten Everman. We werent very good in 2000, we lost in the second round to Lake Worth.

Willie Amos is a great person. He was a world champion jump roper. Did some amazing stuff with a rope lol. D.R. Hooks..are you from this area?
