I read in the Dallas News http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/high-schools/football-news/headlines/20111105-week-10-3a-2aprivates-roundup-madison-tops-wilmer-hutchins-to-clinch-12-3a-title.ece "Madison will be the Division I representative in the playoffs, and Wilmer-Hutchins will be the district’s second seed in Division II."

Wilmer-Hutchins did not exist during the last alignment. I had not been able to find an enrollment figure for them on the UIL website. Had been told by a usually reliable source that they were the largest school in that district. Does anyone know the official story on this?

Now I am confused also. DCTF has WH enrollment @ 865, and Madison @ 773. I was under the impression WH is D1 in that District 12, not Madison. Lovejoy Leopard fan should be able to tell us for sure. I'm almost certain WH is D1 there.

Thanks Matthew328, that clears things up for me. I had not found that previously. Last year Lovejoy playd A M Smith and they don't exist this year.

So that makes Lovejoy's game a little more interesting, I would think. Hmmmm? And Princeton vs. WH??? Then Prosper gets Roosevelt? Or do I have that wrong?

I heard the same thing on the sportsgram coverage of the Lovejoy / Community game. The Play-by-Play guy (Mesquitefan) asked one of the coaches about it. It is at 2:53.40 til 2:54.43 on the playback.

Not sure how this works. According to the sound bite for OC Jason Regan A. Maceo Smith was the D1 school last year but was dissolved. Those students now attend Wilmer-Hutchins. Apparently the U.I.L. did an off-season recount and determined that Dallas Madison was the D1 school an Wilmer-Hutchins was D2. All year I've heard how WH was D1, but I never saw an official headcount.

According to the U.I.L. rules I read, a school cannot join in an odd year.

14. Schools shall be assigned to football districts only in even-numbered years.

I guess the U.I.L will let one school replace another. I couldn't find any written rules about how schools determine their division in an odd year.

This caught just about everyone off guard. Lovejoy has been thinking for just about the entire season they would run into the Hutch in round one. The Lovejoy coaching staff got a call yesterday a couple of hours before kickoff informing them of the change. They already had a date and location for their game with WH!

I actually think this helps Lovejoy. WH is LOADED with DI talent on both sides of the ball. Madison is a good team though. Should be a good first round matchup to see which team plays Celina/Sanger.

Looks like Lovejoy was told they will be playing Dallas Madison. Didn't sound completely final. Madison and WH played last night, however I'm not sure which team we scouted.

The coaches were instructed to scout both. Lovejoy caught a break that they were playing each other last night.

I just saw this. Scroll down the page in the link provided by Old Navy and there is a Lovejoy article. Says Lovejoy plays Dallas Madison.
