Big Game!

From sasports.com:

"Warhorses 2nd leading rusher Jordan Fraga has 62/763 and 12 TDs. Hondo leading rusher Cade Rosenbaum has 40/468 and 8 TDs. Hondo 2nd leading rusher is your QB Zane Carroll has 37/376 and 7 TDs. The one play that he has gain most of those yards is on a QB draw. So although Sadler is playing like a beast with 175/2418 and 41 TDs, it's not just Sadler putting up numbers, it's the whole team. So Hondo can key on Sadler but then you leave Fraga open. If Devine can get to your QB, then we can slow y'all down".

Only problem is that Rosenbaum is the starting QB and Carroll is the backup. Rosenbaum went down with an elbow injury against Pearsall and I don't know if he's back yet. I heard he was supposed to be ready in time for Devine or the playoffs.

Is Sadler gonna play college ball anywhere?

With Hondo starting QB out, going with Devine. Saddler follows his blockers to perfection. Wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play ball somewhere. Has decent speed and size, very smart runner. this week and throughout playoffs will be his chance to make belivers out of everyone and get the respect of others.

Warhorses could trip up in this TRAP game. At worse Devine will spilt 1st place like last year and have a 3-way tie for district 27-AAA. Devine could come out thinking about the playoffs and would like to rest some starters and keep them healthy. On the other hand, this is a BIG rival game for both teams and I see it Hondo needs this win more then we do. Who knows. I say, keep the foot on the pedal and go 10-0 and have District title all to ourselfs.

This game should be at the top as GOTW just have to wait til a moderator moves it. If I could I would be at this game. But circumstances as they are that is not possible.

Which one will go on to play college ball most likely Butler from A.P.

This should be a great game. Too bad Hondo lost to Somerset or both teams would be 9-0. Earlier in the year Hondo looked like they were the the team to beat in this district. But loss of Rosenbaum hurt Hondo and I can't imagine he would be in game shape even if he is healthy now. Sadler is the best runningback in the area hands down. It won't be a suprise whoever wins this one.

HONDO — Devine running back Joseph Sadler's jersey was ripped on both shoulders and he was still catching his breath, but he had the energy to crack a smile when he heard his stat line:

Fifty carries for 466 yards and five touchdowns in a 47-27 victory against Hondo.

“I was getting pretty tired,” Sadler said. “At the end, it was on heart. It was pure adrenaline. At Devine, we don't quit.”

Sadler, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior, set Devine's school rushing record with a Herculean performance in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 6,000 at Barry Field.

The No. 5 Warhorses trailed entering the fourth quarter, but Sadler led them to a District 27-3A title with more than 300 yards in the second half and three fourth-quarter scores.

“As amazing as an athlete as he is, he's the most competitive kid there is,” Devine coach Chad Quisenberry said of Sadler. “It's his willpower.”

The Warhorses (10-0, 6-0 District 27-3A) entered the game having outscored district opponents 305-44, and their first-team offense had yet to play a full game.

But quarterback Cade Rosenbaum led Hondo to a 21-12 halftime lead.

Rosenbaum, a senior, returned after missing four games because of an elbow injury. He was perfect in the first half, completing 7 of 7 passes for two TDs and rushing for another score.

Hondo (8-2, 4-2) was driving in the third quarter and trying to take a double-digit lead when Sadler's biggest play may have come on defense.

He recovered a fumble at the Warhorses' 11, and Devine followed with an 89-yard TD drive, 80 of which were on Sadler's runs.

Sadler ended the drive with a 10-yard TD run, and Devine outscored the Owls 35-6 in the second half.

Sadler had 31 second-half carries for 311 yards.

His 45th carry was a 17-yard TD run just inside the right pylon, his 49th carry a 6-yard TD for his fifth score of the day.

Sadler now has 2,884 yards and 46 TDs on the season, leading all rushers in the state.

“This is cool for me, but I wouldn't be doing this without the best offensive line in South Texas and the best teammates,” Sadler said. “Everything's come together for us.”

Quisenberry had the simplest way to sum up Sadler's night:

“I think he proved tonight that he's pretty good.”

Good speech...recall you are the one that said both Devine and Hondo should do pretty well in the playoffs...sooooooo...it looks like you are the one who is taking opponents lightly...Gonzales and Wimberley's records do not necessarily mean Hondo could not win...but certainly neither one of them can be considered chopped liver and inspire statements like "we should do pretty well in playoffs" when you your team just gave up 35 points in 2nd half and 466 yds rushing, albeit to a good team. Yes....Hondo cruised though Pearsall, Carrizo Springs and Crystal City but had a little trouble with better competition. Of course, I understand the Owls had an injury to starting QB and that of course is hard to overcome. Good luck and make no mistake about it the teams talked about as contenders in Region IV definitely include Hondo and Devine. We will soon know what is what if both the Texans and te Owls can get by 1st round opponents. Apparently, the expert(s) think y'all should do pretty well against the Apaches. :)

Like i said and stick to my statement..You guys can have the rankings and publicity..We get a chance to play one more game next week..As for saying we should do pretty well in the playoffs,i'm sorry i offended you, meant to say we should do bad in the playoffs...LOL...Your funny...

You did not offend me. I put up the little stirring the pot icon and the smiley face icon in the original post as a way of saying I was just having some fun with your comments. In my second post, I was responding to your diatribe about being underestimated and what your team did 5 years ago when underestimated etc. blah di blah di blah and pointing out all I ever said was that if your definition of doing good in the playoffs was winning then you had a rough row to hoe ahead of you in the first two rounds. The last time I saw Hondo play they scored 42 straight points to come from behind and defeat the Texans in 2006 in a heartbreaking loss for Texans. I really have no idea how good Hondo is and was just yakking a little becuz the "we should both do pretty good comments" tickled me based on the path ahead of the Owls. I doubt you even knew who was in the bracket. By the way...the rankings are a pain in the arse and they do not mean that much. I personally find it hard to believe that Wimberley should be ranked #2. They got that ranking because they made semi-finals last year and returned a lot of players. Perhaps it will be another Owl "upset" of the Texans like 2006 or maybe it will be a replay of the 2005 Hondo v Wimberley playoff game. All of this speculation makes the playoffs more fun. IF Hondo gets past a reportedly good Gonzales team, they will have Texans' full attention and respect, assuming the Texas can get past a high scoring Taylor squad.

I saw a post on this board that said Hondo would play Gonzales in 1st round. If that is correct then they would be facing 10-0 Gonzales and if they win then probably facing 10-0 Wimberley. Y'all must have one tough district if you feel you should do well in upcoming playoff games. :stirpot: Good luck with that!!!

Now thats FUNNY, Ss, Don't think they saw that train a coming !
