Mike Ellisor died over the weekend

Knew him well when he coached at Boling
Think he came from Indutrial-He was also an assistant coach at one of the Pasdena school

His daughter married assist coach at East Bernard- Ronnie Schmidt
George “Mike” Ellisor, 59, of West Columbia, passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born Oct. 5, 1952 to Holmes and Joyce Ellisor.

He attended West Columbia High School and Sam Houston State University. Mike had a 34-year teaching and coaching career, passing on his love of sports, drafting and woodworking to many young men and women. His other passions were water and snow skiing, fishing, traveling, golf, gambling and most of all gatherings with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by dad, Holmes Ellisor; sister, Betty Sue Ellisor; and step-dad, Weldon Foreman.

Mike is survived by his wife of 15 years, Erica of West Columbia; mother, Joyce Foreman of West Columbia; children, April Schmidt and husband, Ronnie, of East Bernard, Dawn Sapp and husband, Jason, Michael Ellisor and wife, Laurel, all of Katy and Kyle Ellisor and wife, Mary, of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Aliska, Trey and Andrew Schmidt of East Bernard, Lauren and Justin Sapp of Katy, Evangeline Ellisor of Corpus Christi; sister, Judy Ellisor and friend Stephanie of Pearland; brother, Fred Ellisor and wife, Sharon, of Deer Park; brothers-in-law, Kenny Kloss and wife, Lorrie, and Marty Kloss and wife, Anita; sister-in-law, Kriss Kloss of West Columbia; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011 at Columbia United Methodist Church with Pastor John Price officiating. Visitation was held Tuesday afternoon from 4 p.m. until service time at Columbia United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held today, Wednesday at Davis Cemetery in Grapeland at 2 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers are Gregg Sherrill, Lynn Utz, Ken Kimes, Lloyd Love, Jeff Ganske, Blake Ellisor, Larry Turner and Kenny Kloss.

Honorary pallbearers are Trey and Andrew Schmidt and Justin Sapp.

The family extends a special thank you to Hospice Care Team and Melissa Ryan for the compassionate care given during this difficult time.
