you gotta realize "they" (those thinking polls during the year matter) try to keep several teams from each region in the mix...Prosper and Sanger are better than Seminole and Snyder or Decatur, as are Carthage and Henderson, but you can not rely on the votes of guys that mainly pay attention to 5A and then guess by records and last year on the rest of the voting....

I'm glad that you can count!

I don't care if it were .5 points. The point that I am making is that The Navasota Rattlers, who played and totally dominated a top 20 team, was passed by two teams after that performance. Got it?

Besides, we all know or should know what counts.

I think this is the latest update from Massey Ratings. It is the 3A top 25. I have included the region each school represents (I hope). I appolgize in advance for any errors.

1. Alvararado Reg 1
2. Gilmer Reg 2
3. Coldspring Reg 3
4. Snyder Reg 1
5. Seminole Reg 1
6. Chapel Hill Reg 3
7. Wimberleyl Reg 4
8. Celina Reg 2
9. La Vega Reg 3
10. Argyle Reg 2
11. Prosper Reg 2
12. Lindale Reg 2
13. Carthage Reg 2
14. Henderson Reg 2
15. Sanger Reg 2
16. Monahans Reg 1
17. Van Reg 2
18. Gonzales Reg 4
19. Decatur Reg 1
20. Navasota Reg 3
21. Estacado Reg 1
22. Cooper Reg 1
23. Sealy Reg 3
24. Paris Reg 2
25. Robinson Reg 3

Three of the top five schools are in region 1 with seven total in the top 25. Ten of the top 24 are from region 2. There are six schools from region 3, with three in the top ten. Region 4 has only two schools represented in the top 25, Wimberley at number seven and Gonzales at 18.

Massey does not include West Columbia in the top 25.

Just like other polls and rating systems, this one will be different at the end of the year. I know over the years, when it is this late in the season, when Massey says two teams are close, it is usually close. When it says one team is way better than another, they usually are. Totally objective, but it has never seen any of these teams play one another! Enjoy and play the games anyway!:)

East Texas will take care of most of the schools on this list in the playoffs. Chapell Hill is by far the best team in the state.

You won't get an argument, your opinion may be 100% correct, but they will still have to play the games. Lots of luck involved, especially late in the playoffs. Injuries, grades, illness and the bounce of the ball. The top 10 or 15 teams can have a good night and win against the others. However, I would be very surprised if the State Champions don't come out of the top 10 on the Massey list. Should be fun this year. There are some good teams here.

Its not 100 % accurate. I like Cowboynchrist but his argument is the same every post. I think Alvarado, Coldspring, Celina, Prosper, Argyle, West Columbia, to name a few, can just as easily beat the East Tx teams as East Tx teams beat them.

West Columbia may not be on that list for Massey but they'd give half that list a thorough ass whooping and could hang with the other half. Only team im really scared of is chapel hill and that's cuz they spanked us last year in the semis and they're even better this year.

I think Massey has West Columbia at #28. Just remember that there is a math model and it only calculates numbers based on Points For, Points Against and Strength of Schedule. It does not take into account how easy or difficult a win was, how injured a team may be, whether a team is at full strenght this week for the first time all year. If you have played a weak schedule and shut down the scoring at 35 points in the first quarter, the program has no way to know how good your team may be. It will corect quickly, as you easily beat much stronger teams or teams you have beaten thump much stronger teams.

Bowleghorses mentioned Prosper #11. I agree with him. They are a very strong football team. I have not looked at all the Massey match-up predictions between the top 15 teams, but there was only 3 or 4 points difference between the few I have looked at. In other words, they are all very good ball teams. I think this is going to be a good playoff and it may come down to survival of the fittest, or deepest. That may bode well for Prosper. (Unless they lose their quarterback!)

West Columbia is 10-0 and has had a few close games against 4A schools, but no 3A school has even come close (we haven't played any great 3A's, but we did hand a decent Sweeny team a thorough beat down)....

Part of why Massey hates WC is because they always let up in the 2nd half and give up a late score or two to make the stats look less pretty against weak competition.

Gave up TDs in the last 2 minutes to Sweeny and 4A brazosport, lead Wharton 36-0 i think and then gave up 2 TDs i believe.

We shut out LaGrange 29-0, a team that is going to probably make the playoffs in 26-3A, and we beat 4 4A schools i think. Also scrimmaged Angleton, a top 10 undefeated 4A school.

G2 has seen WC play and he'll be the first to tell you they can hang with just about anyone. The super elite teams (Coldspring, Alvarado, Chill) scare me, but I dont think WC will have much trouble until about the 3rd round.

I'm sure you're right. I am not a Massey defender. It is what it is. It will only give a result for the data that is given. If the data is wrong, it's results are wrong. Massey does not hate, or love any team, and the game results are the only results it will calculate. I think it may influence some games in the hunt for NCAA BCS bids by leaving the starters in in games they have already put away because of the points they might get toward being bowl eligable. In high school, Massey has no effect on the playoffs or matchups.
