The Rangers blew it tonight. With Carpenter pitching there is no way they will win tomorrow. They are outcoached and now outplayed. Washington could have saved it if he had let Mike pitch the ninth inning. I am not wasting my time. I am going to watch hs football.

As bad as game 6 hurt... I saw something tonight that may be the Cardinals worst enemy... They darn near celebrated like they WON THE WORLD SERIES... As bad as that hurts for the Rangers, I'd be more concerned about the Cardinals having the emotional let down in game 7. Also, this will be the third time the Rangers have seen Carpenter and he'll be on short rest. The other time he pitched on short rest in game 1 against the Phillies he got shelled.

Game 6 very well might've been the best thing that could've ever happened to the Rangers.

I'll miss most of the game since I'll be covering Bloomington at Boling for the El Camp Radio station by callling in reports.

Don't think the Rangers can pull it off after blowing leads last night. No consistent pitching or defense.

When you score 9 runs- your supposed to win.

Dam Fox broadcasters wanted Cardinals too win to force game 7-They are terrible broadcasters in my opinion.

I am going to watch hs football. The Rangers have yet to lose to Carpenter!, and he is pitching on short rest. I think if they can get to him early they will rack up the runs like they did against detroit. If not then who knows

Scratch that, I forgot carpenter was still pitching when the cards took lead in 6th of game one. But he was on full rest then. Hopefully he will be off today

I hope you are right. But the thing is with the big win the Cardinals have a big edge psychologically and I am afraid this is going to be a repeat like Game 3. I would love to be wrong but have been right so far. Unfortunately it is the Cardinals night tonight. Especially since the game is in St. Louis. There is one edge for the Rangers and that is it is the 28th. Will it be enough? I don't think so but I hope so.

That is true. I was really disappointed in that the Rangers lost Game 6, but they have another shot tonight. They played horribly defensively, pitching couldn't hold the lead on several occasions, and give the Cardinals credit - they were resilient and got it done. Tonight is a totally new night. I look for the Rangers to bounce back in a big way tonight. They will be FOCUSED! This is what they played for all year long.

NFL - Only care about fantasy but if I had to choose I'd say the Packers due to their history with lombardi
NCAA - Texas(all sports)
NBA - Spurs
MLB - Yankees
NHL - lol
WNBA - lol lol lol
HS - I support Rockdale but my cousin is a starter at Cameron Yoe so I cheer for them as well.
Soccer - Brazil National Team

not that big a loss to the Rangers in the WS...he was a beast in the ALCS but his weak attempt at a long fly ball to right while playing deep (he was skeered of the wall obviously) cost the Rangers the title...this pitching matchup may well be a big problem for the Texas boys...

Decent point. In baseball, momentum is only as good as the next day's pitcher. After game 3, many thought the Cards would run away with it. What happened? Holland came out and pitched a great game to totally destroy any momentum the Cards had. I agree with the sentiment that Carp going against the Rangers a third time on short rest probably favors the Rangers. If Harrison gets ahead of hitters, he should have a good night. I think if we can come out and score a run or two early and hopefully take an early lead, last night will be forgotten.

I probably won't watch the Rangers tonight. I don't think I could take it emotionally if they blow another game and lose the World Series. If they win, game #6 will mean nothing. If they lose tonight then game #6 will define this franchise for the next 25 years. I don't see them recovering from this anytime soon unless they can win tongiht. The Rangers will be the team that never won a World Series but came within 1 strike of it TWICE in one game........... that's not a distinction that I would want!

Can't wait. That game last night was a heck of a ball game by both clubs. The Rangers just came up short twice. A lot of little plays last night by both teams caused the game to be what it was. Neftali's ineffectiveness at what he is hired to do was the main reason we lost. Michael Young contributed to the loss at first base twice last night. I wish the Rangers could land Pujols to play first base next year. It won't happen but that would be awesome. Elvis not going to second last night contributed to the loss as well as Cruz not making that play against the wall for the final out of the game. It still falls on the closer that did not close though. He was not dialed in and got lucky on the first 2 outs.

And the Mavericks collapse DID define the team until they won the title. I feel pretty good about going against Carp on 3 days rest. He did it in game 2 of the Philly series and only went 3 innings giving up 4 ER. Harrison was also pitching well in his last start until ump blew that double play at first. Harrison leads the majors in induced double plays and the Cards lead the majors in grounding into Dbl plays. I think we have a good match up tonight. IMHO the most important thing tonight will be to play errorless defense. if they do that the rest will take care of itself.

This game is tottering on the edge of being blown wide open by the Cards. What do you see to be positive about? Nobody for the Rangers is even getting close to touching Carpenter and every batter for the Cards is slamming Harrison.

Yet it's 3-2. Carpenter is on 3 days rest. He won't be able to go 9 innings and 100+ pitches.

You never get that call when the catcher has to move his glove over. He should have hit his target.

Carpenter was at 70 pitches last inning. He is on 3 days rest. He will either start to get hit this inning and pulled or barely scrape by and be out anyways.

You my friend are a borderlinne DA because strikes are called all the time where the ball crosses the plate...not where the glove starts out....

Emerson1

That worked out great for the Rangers. Got the free out with the Carpenter at bat then rocked him and got him out of the game. Last time we saw Rhodes he threw one pitch for a Hamilton hit right?

You my friend are a borderlinne DA because strikes are called all the time where the ball crosses the plate...not where the glove starts out.... yeah but its also common knowledge that you dont get the benefit of the doubt when the catcher has to move his glove and a lot of times you DO get strike calls a little out of the zone if the pitcher nails his spot and the catcher doesnt have to move at all.

It's called perception. When it's a borderline pitch and the catcher has to go across the plate to get it. The chances of the umpire, a human being, calling it a strike isn't on your side.

Dumbass.

Are you kin to farmersfan?

I have all the confidence in the world they can get 4 runs before the end of the game. Just no confidence in the pitching not allowing anymore runs.

St. Louis is just better right now. It has nothing to do with effort. Surprised you didn't say that the cardinals just wanted it more.

A real heartbreaker series for the Rangers. Nice season Rangers, and congrats to the Cards---they literally snatched victory from the jaws of defeat last night and deserve all the credit in the world.

41 walks for a Series record by the Rangers just doomed them. They will be back.

I wish we would have gotten it done but it just didn't happen. Every year there's a winner and every year there's a loser. After losing it twice in a row, winning it will be that much sweeter. I hope it happens for our players and their families bc you know they want it more than anything.

Rangers are playing badly but it sure seems like the ump has two different strike zones tonight. Not whining, just sayin.Try this on for size. Saw it on another site:

If the World Series advances to a Game 7, 23-year veteran Jerry Layne will be the plate umpire again. Layne also had the plate for the Series opener, which St. Louis won at 3-2.

In the last five years, including the Series opener, St. Louis is 8-1 with a 2.00 ERA when Layne works the plate. In the same span, the Rangers are 1-6 with a 5.40 ERA.

Left-hander Matt Harrison, the scheduled Rangers' starter for a Game 7, is 0-1 with a 12.71 ERA for 5 2/3 innings in two appearances with Layne working the plate.

So Jerry Layne is the Danny Crawford of the MLB? Jerry Layne didn't misplay a routine fly ball into a series-changing triple in game 6. Try another excuse.

Tin Cup

Cruz definitely could/should have caught it but it was far from routine.

A tight strike zone benefits the better pitcher. There is little doubt Carp was the best pitcher in the series.

So Jerry Layne is the Danny Crawford of the MLB? Jerry Layne didn't misplay a routine fly ball into a series-changing triple in game 6. Try another excuse. No excuse.... just facts. Truth is truth. Should they and could they have won anyway? Yes and Cruz wasn't the only culprit in Game 6. Try Andrus throwing to 1st instead of pitching to 2nd. Try Neftali walking the tying runs on base in the first place. Try Michael Young's 2 errors extending innings for them. So Jerry Layne wasn't the reason but the Cards didn't need his help. They were getting enough from our defense and pitching.
