East Bernard should be in top 10 in 2A-They beat Schulenburg and lot to No. 1 Ganado 22-21. Hempstead which is in top 10 played a weaker schedule

With the total and complete dominance of Cold Spring vs anyone they face, I am surprised we are ranked higher than they are...and by a respectable margin as well. Is it their weak opponents? Their Massey rating is clearly dominate. This confuses me.

This is the Dave Campbell rankings which make NO sense at all to me... Not taking anything from Carthage. Should they have catapulted that far up?? From 15 to 6???? with 3 losses??? seriously? I know who they lost to.. Nevertheless, 3 losses.. Now ranked above Alvarado who didnt move anywhere in the past 3 weeks... And UNDEFEATED!!!! AND DOMINATING EVERYONE.... Dave Campbell ratings have their heads up their butts! And we beat PROSPER, WACO CONNALLY and a healthy KENNEDALE and Playoff bound BRIDGEPORT and ROBINSON! ALL PLAYOFF TEAMS.... Just venting. Easy Killer,

The reason Carthage went up that high is because they are playing much tougher competition. It doesnt help beating a venus, hillsboro, and an upcoming west team. Yeah Alvarado is good.. but it might come back to bite them having an easy district sch from here on out.. and an easy region for that matter. It will be another 6 weeks before Alvarado faces some real competition and that early tough sch they had wont matter. Trust me.. Henderson had an easy sch and it killed us when we played a tough team. Hope it dont happen to yall. But just let it go, if Alvarado is going to be a state champ, rankings shouldnt matter

To be honest I dont think it will be us and yall. I think we wont make it that far.. I think it will be either Lindale/Celina vs Alvarado in the semis.. Our D line and Oline got beat the crap out of.. we have a really tough playoff road to get to Alvarado. I just hope for yall sake your coaches keep Alvarado hungry and not taking anyone lightly, because when you face a team from the east it will be different from the easy teams from the west (region wise). Best of luck tho. From here on out for my team its a tough tough road.. enjoy the easy ride and prepare for the semi's against a very tough Region II team

I get what you are saying Wimbo.. Got to be the SOS...If I've calculated this right CS's combined opponent's record is 22-42 but it's the manner in which they've won that is possibly being ignored...

Lol, whoa nelly. Not taking anything away from Alvarado but I wouldn't be bragging about beating any of the teams you mentioned above... maybe Prosper. But Carthage is in a whole other league over in East Texas. Hope to see Alvarado do well this season if not make it all the way but like someone has already said, rankings don't matter if your playing great football.

Or Kennedale (Healthy) for that matter.
As for our coaches, They are top notch! Dixon is from a winning school, (KATY TX) state champs numerous times. The coaches have our boys prepared regardless of who we are playing. The last game of the season will mean something too.. Its for the District title against Glen Rose.. They have a good program there too... we havent played all wimps lol!

I agree with you that Prosper is a quality win. Look what the did to Argyle that is Ranked 8th and Prosper did not even break the top 20 on the AP list. I think they are a better team than that, and we may find out, because they are on a collision course with a Argyle in the Playoffs.

Fyi, MaxPreps uses the Freeman Rankings, similar to Massey and they have Alvarado at 3rd.
Good luck and stay healthy.

I agree with you Old Navy. These Region 2 pairings in both divisions will have a huge say in what ultimately happens come the semis. Which team stays healthy, who knocks off who, which team is on a roll with momentum, match-ups. It's all gonna come down to what teams come out of Region 2 in both divisions, IMO. This will set the stage for the semis, and ultimately the finals. There is no clear-cut favorite in either division in Region 2.

I believe Chappell Hill will be the last team standing, they will have everybody back healthly this week or next week. They have been winning against top rank teams with back ups. When eveybody gets back, they will be amazing because now the back ups have a lot of big game experience. Just my opinion. God Bless.

What about Div 2?

Div 2 will be a dog fight between Gimer, Carthage, Cold Springs, Alvarado, Celina, and Arygle. It will determine how the teams match up when they play. Don't get to upset by what I say, but my money is on Carthage.
They are well balanced, they can run or throw equally good. Coach S has the Dawgs gearing up for the play offs. If you will go back and look at every game they have played, you will be able to see inprovement every game they play. Gilmer beat them in a hard fought game, but from what I saw from that game to the next game against Henderson was a big improvement. I know everybody can say they improve from week to week, it just appears that you can see a big difference from week to week in how the Dawgs play. The only thing that could get in the way of the Dawgs will be the 9 starting sophmores not being able to handle the pressure of the playoffs. Gimer will be very hard to beat because of how they swarm to the football on Defense, but without the big monster at Q/B , I think by the time they meet Carthage again, if they both make it that far, Carthage will be favored. Again just my opinion, heck neither one of them may make it very far in the playoffs. I think both teams play the game with a passion and they have two of the best coaching staffs in the state of Texas.

Celina will be Division I. Is there any chance Alvarado goes Division I? Also, Gilmer hasn't even made the playoffs yet, and they are 8-0. I'm pretty sure they will, but.......just saying. AND, IF they DO eventually meet Carthage again, I think Gilmer will beat them again. By the way, IF both teams make it that far, and that is a BIG "if", Luke will likely be back. That would be a HUGE lift, even if they are playing very good without him.

I knew Celina was, but I wasn't sure about Alvarado. Thanks!

If you like the ratings vrs. the rankings click on the matchup tab on massey and model your probable path.

Celina's probable remaining road and massey's matchup prediction based upon numbers (Celina can only go D1)

W-Bonham 31-0
W-Commerce 35-14
W-Sanger 35-28
W-Lovejoy 42-0
W-Henderson 34-31
L-Alvarado 20-27
W-Chapel Hill 31-30

Massey Matchup has Celina over everyone but Alvarado. Interestingly, Massey has Celina's D being rated higher than their O. In fact the O is MUCH stronger than the D this year. Alvarado's D vs. Celina's O should be fun to watch if both are fortunate enough to meet. Even typing this is blasphemy in Celina as Bonham is the current threat. I apologize in advance to all Bobcats for this whimsical post.

As far as D1 goes I see it as Chappell Hills to loose, they will be the fastest team on the field whom ever they play and they will have everybody back this week or next week. They have beat several ranked teams with 5 or 6 back ups playing. When they all get back, it will be speed, speed, speed on both sides of the ball.

Not upsetting me...we have learned to never underestimate the Bulldogs...taking nothing away from Luke Turner...he is a monster...but Jordan Traylor is doing a bang-up job. Daddy Traylor & Company shifted several positions with the move and seemed to have compensated well.

What is with the purple underlined stuff showing up? Anybody?

Dave's picks always put WAY more emphasis on what teams did last year as opposed to doing any real analysis on the current team...since Carthage has 3 in a row Dave's crew will fawn over them like a prom date....they can't help it - they just don't seem to often know what is going on at a school on the field week to week...

Wake up DAVE!!!!!

no one in Celina is worried about Bonham....they may all SAY to just go 1 at a time, but the talk at the Bobcat over coffee is not much about Bonham I assure you....they will focus on Commerce since it is a home game and senior night, but they already have the playoffs locked up and won't lose to Bonham if all they play is backups so this week is a coaster to Celina no matter what bs they claim they are focusing on....

With the total and complete dominance of Cold Spring vs anyone they face, I am surprised we are ranked higher than they are...and by a respectable margin as well. Is it their weak opponents? Their Massey rating is clearly dominate. This confuses me.

I agree. :2thumbsup

As far as D1 goes I see it as Chappell Hills to loose, they will be the fastest team on the field whom ever they play .That what we all said last year too. I would have bet my left gonad that Henderson couldn't have stayed within 3 TD's of them. And then they had to actually play the game. You just never know.

I agree with you on that is why you play the game, but I think CH learned a very hard lesson last year. They got beat by a team that was no where near as good because Henderson brought the fight to them. CH was so use to out speeding everybody(I hope I can say that) they forgot they were playing another speed team from East Texas.

I don't see it as anyone's to lose, we all know who was ranked #1 from pre-season on last year. Brownwood didn't win a state championship! Henderson wasn't overpowering through the season, but they turned it up a notch in the playoffs. It's up in the air, that's the beauty of a playoff system.

Would love to see Chapell Hill and Alvarado match up for the championship and Carthage and Cold Springs rematch.

I agree, it would be awesome to see the Indians play for a state championship. I think another Carthage- Coldspring matchup might be a little closer game this year.
