Nope. It is because Mike Leach gave a scholarship to a kid that didn't deserve one. Then it blew up in his face like a faulty grenade.

Nope - at Celina he was just average...not even the best on the offense...we were just as shocked as anyone else to hear he got an offer from a Big12-2-1+1 team.....heck, most of us even thought it was a joke that daddy cheater paid to get him his preseason hs All American pretend award....then the kid went out and stunk it up again to prove he was not anywhere NEAR all Am status at the hs or middle school or youth league level or any other level...

heck his little brother was better than him in hs and he got no offers....

I have no clue who you were talking to except maybe his cheater hovering daddy because even the coach got tired of daddy pressing to let the kid get more throws his way for more drops....he was decent size for a Celina TE at the time, but he was not fast and had avg hands...when he moved up he was slow and way undersized, and still is....

by the way...When Tech had a FG blocked and run back for a TD, did ya see who the guy that blocked it went around? that is right....the closet James kid....Tommy keeps forcing him into the games to please his crappy daddy and he makes enough mistakes he SHOULD be pulled.....but alas, Tommy keeps a STAR TE on the bench to let this dreg play....

I read Mike Leach's mini-biography in the Texas Monthly magazine BEFORE all this happened, and it too was a good read.
Leach is a pretty smart cookie.

No, we aren't ranked because:
1) We don't believe in special teams;
2) We can't stop the run with a brick wall:
3) We won't leave a LB to spy either the QB or RB (see #2);
4) Doege is colorblind and all 21 other guys look the same;
5) We lost 2 games against 2 teams we COULD have beaten;

From what I've seen, I honestly don't think that it is coaching, as far as offense goes. Now defense, you have to do something about the other team running, and if that means pulling someone from coverage or from blitzing to spy, you do it. Most BIG 12-2-1+1 teams don't have a QB that is going to pick apart your defense to begin with, so sacrificing a DB probably isn't going to hurt you. The guys on special teams obviously have their heads somewhere other than on the field, and that, single-handedly, has cost us about 3 scores, and that's not even thinking about it, not to mention the 9 points we didn't put on the board due to their miscues. At this point, I'm just hoping we can win 2 more games to make a bowl because we damn sure don't look like we will.
