ORLANDO, Fla.
Freshman quarterback Tucker Israel earned his place in Florida football history after throwing 10 touchdown passes in a single high school game, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Israel's prolific performance in Lake Nona's 68-10 victory over Celebration on Thursday night exceeded the previous state record of eight TD passes and fell a single touchdown short of tying the national record.

"Me and coach (Anthony Paradiso) thought we had something special planned (Thursday)," Israel said. "We weren't thinking that, but as soon as the first half ended and I had eight, we decided to go for it."

While quick to praise his quarterback, Paradiso commended the whole team's role in Israel's achievement.

"He did everything we asked him to do," the coach said. "He's pretty good for a freshman. It was a great job by the defense and offensive line to put him in position to play the way he did."
