i owe you an apology, sir....i never thought you played before....i apologize i ever thought that....

qb, cleveland high, 71-74....(well, graduated in 74, so i guess i played 70-73)....

went to college on a basketball scholarship because my offers were better in basketball, but i can proudly state that i was recruited by tech to play qb....still have the letter somewhere....if they only knew how close i came to denying a law school ride just for the fun of playing college football....ill always love tech for the offer.....

ive bothered everyone out here about my son being fortunate enough to make the coldspring wall of honor, but he never would have made it without coach ben goffney getting that boy up running at 5:30 am to go running and lifting weights 5 days a week before school and during summer from my sons first week in 7th grade football until graduation....coach goffney didnt do that for every kid in coldspring, and when he did it for my son ty, he was a pottbellied, out of shape, underachieving gripe gut....

i have zero idea why he did that for my son, but when my son and i talk and i told him i wished i would have taken more advantage of my football years, he always says "you didnt have a coach goffney or you would have"....its really ashamed theres not a coach's wall of honor for each kid that was pushed without any glory going to them....

Brownwood Lions 87-90. Varsity Jr and Sr years. When I got there as a frosh, I took a kids position at RB that had been there since the 7th grade. He moved to Sweetwater the next year. Felt sorry for him.
I played RB/DB/OLB/Punt Returner and threw a few RB pass plays. Had several regional DII/DIII college looks (ASU, ACU, HSU, MSU, Tarleton). Blew right knee vs Stephenville Sr year. Then buckled again in the long jump at a meet in Stephenville. All she wrote. Ironic that I moved there later. lol

I played for the Jackets, with one year on varsity, my senior year. I was the starting AD right tackle for the 1992 Sville Jackets. We went 10-4 got beat in the quarters by the Zebbie Lethridge led Lubbock Estacado Matadors. Interesting fact, my QB Brandon Stewart faced Zebbie 3 times total in HS and college and never beat him. But Stewart is still the QB on record for TAMU's only Big 12 championship.
