Bridgeport/Decatur - Battle of Big Sandy

Ok - lets get this thing started. Bridgeport (4-2) at home against a surprising Decatur team (6-0). Bridgeport has the edge in passing, I see a push in the running game. B'port one nice back and Decatur about 3 that can break one off. Defense has to go to Decatur. They are holding their opponents to under 300 yds per game and B'Port was around 450 yds before they rebounded defensively against Graham. Biggest edge goes to homefield advantage. B'Port had a tougher pre-conference schedule than Decatur but it's tough to go 6-0 even with a few lesser opponents. Gonna be nuts.

Pretty fair and balanced pre-game analysis, Jim---I see nothing I disagree with--and you are right, it will come down to the "D's" because both "O's" are capable of putting up big numbers. I just hope the Bulls can score faster thru the air than the Eagles can on the ground. As usual, records go out the window, and it is strictly old-time big rival, mano-a-mano, gut-check time in this one. Should be a real dandy, and I will be there for every minute of it.

Gonna be interesting playing this early. We're used to the Battle being played in rain or miserably cold conditions. Weather will not be a factor! Don't think drought can affect a football game LOL

Winner of this will definately have a leg up on conference. Don't believe Minerals Wells has what they had last year.

Gonna be a shootout in Bridgeport with two high scoring offenses facing off! It will be a playoff like atmosphere with an overflow crowd at Bull Memorial Stadium! I'm gonna be there an hour and a half early, this game will be intense as always!

Decaturs defense is better than bports hands down..bports offense is def capable of the big play. Decatur isn't the spread it out and throw it type anymore. They rely more on the run and throw in the pass respectively.

The defenses for both teams will have a hard time stopping the others offense, I think yalls Qb is going to give us fits but everyone else I'm really not too worried about. It will be a close game just like it's been the past two years.

How is B'Ports O - line this year? Decatur's defense has gelled quite well this year and that should be the key matchup of the game. Decatur has always had issues with tackling and dumb penalties. The tackling has been better but they still seem to kill themselves with not so smart penalties.

Yep--that was the "Monsoon Bowl"---raining straight down the whole game. Dane was throwing spirals and Daugherty was throwing "ducks" because he couldn't grip the ball. Sure hope it's dry tonight---either way your "dirty birds" are going down. :D

The current blue ones look lame! looks like someone got lazy and just painted the old black ones blue and missed a pretty big spot on every single one! The black ones yall had back in 04' 05 were pretty cool looking though, ours are way better looking though.

The Eagles defensed the Bridgeport passing game very well and drove more successfully on offense than the Bulls. Decatur is a good team who will represent 7-3A well in the playoffs. Best of luck to the Eagles.

The Bulls went down swinging---but they just couldn't put enough good plays together to sustain their drives---credit again to a really good effort by the Eagle "D". Still proud of how hard the Bridgeport kids played the whole game---it just wasn't enough tonight against a good Eagle team.

Im afraid whoever comes out of our division will have to go thru either Kennedale or Alvarado.

Good game on both sides - the score doesn't reflect how close the game was. You knew Coach Henson would adjust at half. The Eagles o-line battled all night and was the difference in the game I think. Doubt Decatur passed 15 times tonight - Oline kept 'em running.

More than likely we'll end up with Kennedale in round 1, Alvarado is the big school out of that district so they'll go division 1 again and more than likely face mineral wells while decatur ends up with glen rose.

(I know it's a long shot but would be awsome if both made it that far)---> Decatur vs Bridgeport in round 4 of the 3A Division2 playoffs
