Battle of G'towns
Battle of 271
Battle of orange and black
1st district game on THURSDAY night
Gilmer has owned this series lately but it certainly hasn't always been this way. Bears haved improved last couple of years and it took the Buckeyes overtime and a skunk in the stands:D to get the win last year. I expect a game closer than some might think. Thoughts? Predictions!!

Yep, this game could be one of those heart-stopping, scary type of games full of momentum shifts. If it's anything like last year's game it'll definitely come down to whoever has the ball last. I hope the Buckeyes can put a little distance between the scores so that it isn't that kind of game, but it is Gladewater, and strange things always happen in games with them......

If the GW couldn't score any points (0) against an avg Wills Point team I don't see how they are going to keep up with Gilmer no matter how good their D is. jmo

The thing is you can't judge a team by matchups with other teams. Gladewater will bring their best game for Gilmer, no doubt. This is a rivalry game, and even though the Buckeyes have dominated the series lately, we saw from last year's game that their MAIN focus is beating Gilmer. If they can beat Gilmer they feel like they will make the playoffs. If they can't, look for the Bears to finish out the season losing two of four, maybe even three of four. It is my hope that the Buckeyes will be focused, and realize that the Bears are gunning for them, so that the Buckeyes can bring their best game. If the Buckeyes are on top of their game, and the Bears are on top of their game, I think the Buckeyes will be too much for the Bears. If the Buckeyes are not playing their best, and Gladewater is, this game will definitely be too close for comfort. I think the Buckeyes know the gravity of this game, and will take it to them from the get-go, but I've been wrong before....

Dang! They move the game 24-1/2 hours up. Does anybody know why? Even though it's only 15 minutes away to Gladewater, this means I will have to leave work early in order to get a seat. I would've been there by 6:30, now I'll have to be there by 6:00. You know how the Buckeyes fans are. They do believe in being at games early...... Good grief.

True dat, brotha! That's the only reason I see for it. Both teams have had an extra week off, and I think it's advantageous if the coaches can scout all four of the remaining opponents in district (two games = four opponents). The "District of Doom" is tough, and any extra advantage would be welcomed.

Last year for Gladewater was like 2000 for Gilmer. Gladewater was ranked and we had no business beating them, but we did.

Last year, Gladewater had no business beating us, but they came 3 yards away from doing just that. I don't see Gilmer having that kind of game this time around.

I agree. I know GW has a very good D, but the Bucks have a very good TEAM. I just don't see the GW 'D' controlling this game. However, I do see Luke Turner and the Gilmer 'O' doing just that. I could be underestimating Gladewater, or giving too much credit to the Buckeye offense, but I don't think so. Gilmer by 2 tds.

Not to change the subject but Gladewater looks like it has a very nice stadium.. Great looking pressbox.

It is a nice stadium, even to be as old as it is. It was one of the first stadiums in East Texas to have artificial turf, definitely the first in 3A. I only have two problems with the stadium: 1) the visitor's side seating is small - maybe holds 1500 max, 2) the town it's in sucks.:ack!:

Buckeye, you were still up at almost 11 last night and now up again at 5 AM. Do you ever sleep? I'm older than you and still need more sleep than that! j/k

My wife is up every morning by 5 but sometimes I sleep in until 6.

Sometimes I wish I could but it just seems to never happen...actually up at 4AM & making coffee...Mrs.buckeyebob (Little Debbie Snack Cakes has to get to Pittsburg to do her nursing stuff & bring in the $$ so I can enjoy retirement). I kinda figure that since I am old, I should be up and at 'em...I'll have plenty of time later for sleep.

May your day be blessed.

The Gladewater defense that had given up only 37 points in their first 5 games? They were decent, just not great. That the way football go in the District of Doom....:)

In all fairness, the level of competition steps up tremendously when playing in this district, and the Bears found that out last night.
