Looks like Columbia's Offense is going to outscore the Defense tonight....good for them. Those coaches work so hard, its rough seeing the defensive staff get all the credit. ;)

Let's see if the dub can put 4 qts together. It's been pretty rough in the 2nd half so far this year.

Has Stafford has improved over last year?

Has Stafford has improved over last year? They came into last night's game with a record of 3-2. That's has to be somewhat of an improvement for them. But, they are still Stafford. Not big, ran the spread but did not attempt a pass all night. Every yard was gained on the ground. I don't see them making the playoffs out of their district.

’Necks dominate Stafford for homecoming win, 38-0

WEST COLUMBIA — The Columbia Roughnecks never left a doubt of who was in control Friday night at Griggs Field.

In workmanlike fashion, the No. 8 Class 3A team in the state took care of business as the Roughnecks moved to 6-0 for the season with a 38-0 win over Stafford on homecoming night.

"I was proud of the kids, they played well," Columbia coach Leland Surovik said. "We eliminated a lot of the stupid mistakes we had last week. We didn't put the ball on the ground. It came out well."

Columbia did a little bit of everything in this game.

They rushed for 261 yards, with running backs Sean Flannel and Floyd Bess getting the bulk of the yards. Flannel rushed for 108 yards on 17 carries while Bess rushed for 104 yards on only 10 carries. Flannel had one touchdown run and Bess had two.

"Those guys are special," Surovik said. "It helps when the blocking is good. Those guys can go in there and take care of business."

Quarterback Tyler Ince had a chance to show off his arm as well. Ince completed 12-of-17 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown. Ince completed his first eight passes of the game.
"He took what they were giving him," Surovik said. "He just needed some confidence. He threw the ball extremely well."

Columbia's defense did its part also. It limited the Spartans to only 209 total yards, all on the ground. Stafford could muster only 61 yards in the first half when Columbia took a 24-0 lead.

Bess put Columbia on the scoreboard with 3:31 left in the first quarter when he broke loose on a 21-yard touchdown run to cap an 80-yard drive.

Two minutes later, the Roughnecks' offense went on the march again. Ince threw what looked like a 62-yard touchdown pass to tight end Bradley Swanks. But an illegal block penalty on the play at the Stafford 8 nullified the score.

A few plays later, Columbia scored anyway as Flannel went in from 6 yards out with 21 seconds left in the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, Columbia's Zack Henson recovered a Spartan fumble on a bad snap at the Stafford 6.

One play later, Ince threw to Swanks for the score with 11:11 left in the first half to give Columbia a 21-0 lead.

Later in the second quarter, Treylon Johnican kicked a 31-yard field goal to give Columbia a 24-0 lead at the half.

Keenan Brown helped extend that lead to 31-0 when returned the opening kickoff of the second half 90 yards for a touchdown with 11:48 left in third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, after the Columbia defense held on a fourth down play inside its own 5-yard line, the Roughnecks' offense proceeded to drive 95 yards for its final touchdown.

Bess finished off the drive that took 5 minutes off the clock with a four-yard touchdown run with 4:10 left in the game

Anyone know what is the status of Quinton Bell, Willis Johnson, & Coleman Roark?

For most of the night, Tyler had time to throw and he was making some great throws. It was good seeing him not have to run for his life back there. He also had a 62 yard td pass nullified by a penalty and his lone int was off the hands of his WR. Great game for him.

Anyone know what is the status of Quinton Bell, Willis Johnson, & Coleman Roark? I had no idea Roark and Johnson were hurt? That could have a lot to do with why the defense has been a bit bipolar.

I heard something before about bell being back around district sometime.

Anyone know what is the status of Quinton Bell, Willis Johnson, & Coleman Roark?I haven't heard anything concrete on all three of them. That ankle injury to Willis looked pretty bad last night. The way Bell is running out there on the field, makes you wonder if he can't make a return.
