Pearsall High School doesn't have a ton of playoff history but I thought this might be a fun topic to start up. Name your school's best season ever.
Here's Pearsall's:

1947 12-0, (3-0) CLASS A REGIONAL CHAMPS
Poteet - W 42-0
Carrizo Springs - W 34-19
Hondo - W 25-20
Crystal City - W 27-6
Dilley - W 43-0
Harlandale JV - W 45-0
Eagle Pass - W 18-13
Edgewood - W 52-0
Cotulla - W 64-0
Zone: Crystal City - W 40-0
Floresville A Bi-D - W 47-7
Pt Lavaca Cal. Reg. - W 26-7
Total PF: 463 PA: 72

Scored school record 463 points. Outscored opponents 463-72. Record for most wins in a season. Furthest advancement possible for teams at the time.

The 1940 team was also regional champs with an 11-0-1 record. They allowed only 33 points all season and posted 8 shutouts in 12 games but I feel the 1947 team was far more dominant.

Let's here some more from some of the more renowned teams around the state.

Well, last season West Columbia tied their best performance ever making it to the semifinals and an overall 12-2 record, losing their first and last games and winning 12 in a row in between.

Im not sure when they last made it to the semis, but I'm fairly certain that's as far as they've ever gone.

Don't forget about the 1941 team that went 12-0 (that's as far as they could go in them days), scoring 369 points, while only giving up 6 points all season. The story goes that that TD was given up extremely late in a blowout game against scrubs early in the season. If they had known what they were to do the rest of the season, they might have preserved the shutout.

That was 3a!! QB Jimmy Carmichael, WR Jimmy Young, RB Squirt Thompson and RB Gary Barron Wing-T and Coach Wood...oops I am showin my Age and ccmom will make me pay for that!!:1popcorn:LOL

Brownwood has had as you know 7 state championships with only 1 member from each district advancing back then. We were 3a for all but one of those State Titles and in 81 we were 4a.
Last years team was very special and I would consider that to have been our best Team in the last 30 years and more than likely Ever. The 2003 Lions were very good as well..as they went 11-1 losing to Denton Ryan who went on to win the 4a championship that year D-2 I think. The 1965 Lions went 14-0 and has to be considered the best of that era.
In closing I would have to say they all were my favorites this year included..:)

How did I forget about them... That team was special. Ran the veer option like no one else.. Two running backs rushed for over 2,000 yards and the QB rushed for over 1,000.

in 1964 coldspring went 11-1, ending their season with a loss to danbury....in 1966 we went 10-1-1, ending the season with a win over evadale....in both cases, we were a class b school and, in those days, class b schools could only play until reaching the regional finals, so out '66 team is the only team coldspring has ever fielded that went to the playoffs and won their last game though, in this case, it didnt end in a state championship, only a regional one....

we have had two 14-2 teams, in '92 we lost the title game to southlake carroll in their first of five run, then last year we went 14-2 and everyone knows that final loss and their streak....

our 96 team went 13-2, losing in the state semis to sealy in the middle of their 5 yr run in a fabulous game, coming back a 21-0 halftime deficit to end the game 21-14 with us on their half yard line (isaac wyatt broke his ankle in the first half, wrapped it up and ran for 180 yds in the 2nd half)...this is why sealy crying sour grapes with wimberley is merely karma coming around...lol

we also had a '93 team going 11-2, losing in the regional finals to columbus...

thats it for the 1 & 2 loss teams...

weve never won state, never had a 1 loss or undefeated team in modern playoff times....thats a big reason why this year could be extremely special in many ways....:cheerl:

Many memorable seasons for the Buckeyes but my vote would tie the 2004 & 2009 teams...so much alike but so different.

State Champions
2004 16-0 Div.2 655 to 222
2009 15-0 Div.1 782 to 277

The 2004 never got any respect...best pick of the season was #2 in Final Match (Jasper was picked to win). 2009 was picked #1 from Week 0 through the end. 2009 had the best high school football game I have ever seen:

Dec. 5, 2009 Cuero @ Huntsville Semi-Final

The Buckeyes have played in a lot of exciting games over the last decade, but this one at Bowers Stadium on the campus of Sam Houston State University ranked with the best of them. Cuero jumped out to leads of 13-0 and 20-7, taking advantage of three Gilmer turnovers. At halftime, it was 27-21 in favor of the Gobblers, only the second time all year the Buckeyes had trailed at the half. But Stump Godfrey willed his team to victory in the second half, running for five TDs in all and passing for the other one. The Black Flag Defense came up big after Godfrey’s 68-yard TD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyqUGFkS2lI&feature=related run late in the game gave Gilmer a precarious lead, bending but not breaking as it held the Gobblers on downs at the Gilmer 5. "The Run" is now part of Buckeye Football Legend...deep in Buckeye Territory, 4th and long,Coach Traylor tells the story that he had called another play...Stump signalled a time out, ran to Traylor and said to give him the ball...Traylor asked why him...he said he had a State Championship to win...rest is history...Final 42-36

Defeated Gainsville 21-7. we got owned 62-7 by wimberley that year (but in our defense- our arguably best player to ever come thru WC - Jared flannel - had just went down the week before with an injury).

No way he would've made that much difference, but our offense would have been much more productive. Defense would've been on the field less, and the team would've been a little more confident. Probably still would've lost by 3-4 tds though. That wimberley team was crazy good. I can still remember the texans fans chanting 'BUUUUSE!' as he shredded our defense.

Won state in 2002, made 4A semi-finals in 2007 and 2008

Yep, that was Sinton's best year too. Both teams put up over 630 points on offense that season. It was a heck of a game. Sinton even led 14-0 at halftime.

wasn't it 14-12 at the half??

looking back at the game film...there were a lot of momentum killing penalties in that game and some outstanding defense (well except that one play!) ;)

Out of Sville's 4 state champion teams the '94 squad was the best. They went 16-0 and finished up a 32-0 2 year stint. That was back before the divisional splits in the playoffs, so it was a unified 4A state championship. That team had 11 players that received college football scholarships with 7 of those D1 players. This is no bull the Jacket OL that year was bigger than any OL in the SWC. They had 3 D1 players on it.

No it was 14-6...Everman got the ball first and went 3 and out...Sinton muffed the punt and Everman hit the long pass down to the 1 and momentum turned..

I remember those boys well. Played against them for 3 years. That Oline was huge. That was truly one of the great teams for sure.

Those were my picks.....
Beat that great Mart team with quan cosby and they were on a 40 game win streak and we were 30.
But the 05 team pitched 7 shutouts scored 802 points and beat a very good Pewitt team in the SC game. I sat next to GA in that game and he was impressed but still thought the Mart Game for the sc was the best Celina ever played.

Yes, those were great games and seasons, but the 1995 team beating West Texas resulted in the greatest season in my opioion. There was no Div I, Div II stuff, just one state champion and the Bobcat's had not gotten a state trophy in over 20 years. Celina changed that night. In my humble opinion, the Bobcat's became who they are today during that game in Vernon. We're blessed to still have coaches from that game. Just my 2 cents.
