Defense will do their part. Offensively, I just want to see the turnovers go away. Too many in the last two weeks.

At least one of them last night---against Bay Shiddy AND the zebras--was a good "helment on the ball" fumble. The others were just sloppy ball handling---NO sugar coating it!!! My pick is Necks 55 and Spartans 12.

WEST COLUMBIA — A perfect 5-0 for the season, the Columbia Roughnecks want to continue that success as they finish up nondistrict play.Columbia will entertain Stafford (2-3) for homecoming with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff today at Griggs Field.
The Roughnecks pulled off a 14-9 win against Bay City last week in what turned out to be more of a struggle than anything else.

Six turnovers did not help Columbia's night, but their defense continues to play at a high level.

The Roughnecks are limiting opponents to 224.4 yards a game, and against Bay City they forced five turnovers.

As a defense, Columbia has 14 interceptions in five games, with Treylon Johnican leading the way (seven). The Roughnecks have forced 10 fumbles and recovered seven.

On the ground, opponents have been able to gain only 429 rushing yards, while they've passed for 693.

Despite its struggles offensively, the Roughnecks still have the top rusher in the district with Sean Flannel racking up 633 yards and eight touchdowns. They also have the top passer in Tyler Ince, who has thrown for 420 yards and two touchdowns on 28 completions.

Columbia has won all seven meetings against Stafford.

The Spartans are coming off a 37-19 loss to Bridge City, as Jacoby Ceasor passed for 123 yards and an interception.

On the ground, Easy Anyama led the Spartans with 97 yards and a score on 21 carries. For the season, Anyama has gained 386 yards and seven touchdowns on 54 carries, averaging 7.15 yards per carry.

Ceasor has passed for 388 yards, one score and two interceptions. A couple of Ceasor targets are Vance Andrews, who has six catches for 119 yards, and Anyama, who has eight catches for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Columbia won last year's meeting, 41-0.
