If I'm not mistaken, Miami Dolphins O-lineman & Pro Bowler Norm Evans (from the 70's teams) was on that Donna Redskin 61 state champion team.

Go Bears! PSJA....my alma mater.....

Anything about a certain Abilene band member? I was told that was why this game was significant.

Good article. Best of luck to the Cardinals. If there's one thing I've noticed living in the RGV 20+ years........ They support their teams like no one else does, especially come playoff time :)

The valley has to consistently beat San Antonio teams in the playoffs to get some respect. This game is a step in the right direction and a win would be huge. I just dont see a win for the Cards.

Don't know a thing about Harlingen but I think Abilene is better than they have been getting credit for. I will pick Abilene to win this one by 14.

Harlingen is good and will make some noise in the 5a playoffs. This game is a good test and will tell just how much noise they will make. Harlingen played Austin Westlake a couple of years ago in the playoffs and that was supposed to be the game that put them over the hump, but they carried the ball like a loaf of bread and Westlake saw that and took advantage of it and blew them out. 5a teams in the 3rd round of the playoffs should not be that non fundamental. Last year Harligen lost in overtime to SA Stevens on a missed extra point. So they are moving in the right direction. Right now Harlingen is the best team in the Valley.
Harlingen is playing with a lot of confidence right now but wins over a way down CC Carroll team and over an average San Benito team will boost confidence. Abilene is no CC Carroll/San Benito.

Harlingen has won their first two games by scores of 72-0 and 49-7.....Abilene will be a good test...

Harlingen wins 45-44 in 2OT. AHS went for two after a penalty on the xtra pt and didnt make it.
