I love these threads.
But they should just say "Please put your coaches name here ___________."

Coach Jimmy Mitchell of Sinton.May not THE best but he should be in the top ten. After what he's done with this group of Pirates so far he deserves it!!!

I think Coach Nelms of Wimberley is one of the best coaches in the district. He had big shoes to fil after Coach Burk left and went to Navasota. He has done alot with this football team. At the begining of the season i didnt think we would win 3 games but now we are in the playoffs and our team looks like a great group of young men and our going to go all the way i do beleive.

Good Job Coach Nelms

Good Job Coach NelmsI agree with your pick being Coach Nelms. I didn't have the pleasure of being coached by him but he did go to Glen Rose the year after I graduated. I remember saying to myself that Glen Rose wouldn't be very good for a while but he coached those boys up good and ended up making the playoffs. Everyone liked him their and was sad to see him go. Good luck against Rice.

In addition, Barbay has done this in a small 3a school where numbers can be a problem.

Look At Coach Barrett in Kennedale and look what he has done with that program, you should also look at the impact the program has had on the young lives it has touched. It's no accident that Kennedale has had some good team lately.

Two of the best have to be G.A. Moore and Curtis Barbay. They've won consistantly for over 30 years and have shown no signs of slowing down. If Newton drops to 2A Barbay will be reaching the 300 plateau in a few years.

Barbay, He wins year in and year out with one of the smallest enrollments in AAA. His predistrict schedule usually includes the areas best AAAA teams and he continually posts 8+ wins a season.

Barbay! And now his assistant is Walkoviak, one of the winningest head coaches in 4A football. Some coaches that are new as head coaches such as Jasper's Lauve, don't have the long record to compare with Barbay, so time will prove who is the best among that group.

I gotta' go with Coach Delmer Whop of Hooterville. He seems to get the most outta' his talent year in, year out. And yes things are slow at work!!!

Since Mickey Owens is our coach, I won't say him, but he is very good. I don't know a lot about coaches outside our area, but I know that Hugh Sandifer of Abilene Wylie fields a very competitive team, year in and year out.

Jerry Vance from Liberty Hill is pretty good at taking a little and getting a lot out of it!!!
As far as the best G.A. Moore is the best.

I don't remember his name at the moment but I think Cuero's coach!!

404-79-9

is a pretty good record in some circles.

I think that 41 winning seasons and 0 losing seasons and 8 State Championships would be a pretty good goal for an up and coming young coach as well.

But then again, I am probably biased. :p

I believe the coach should not only be judged by the performance of his team, but also with the recruiting success his players have experienced.

Mark Reeve in Cuero was 101-19 in 5A. Moved down to 3A so he could get back to south Texas and have a chance to win. Got us back on the map in less than a year. Fantastic human being. Meticulous planner. He's got my vote.

Coach Shaw @ Whitney.

I know he was 2-38 in 4 seasons there, but if you don't think he's the best coach in the state, just ask him...he'll tell you the same thing.

GA Moore - won't put him as the best coach, but certainly the best recruiter.

Barbay's got my vote!

Kevin Rush- ForneyI agree here based on the fact that he stepped up to the plate and filled some big shoes which Maxfield left behind. Not only did Rush fill them, but he made a great team even better. Forney is a contender every year and Im sure alot of teams are straight out frustrated. HE comes well prepared, well rounded in every aspect, and uses his athletes to the best of their ability with a touch of class.
