They return 8 on both sides of the ball and went two rounds deep last year; beating Everman in the first round then losing to Aledo 70-35. They are still a running team but do it out of the spread. They are 2-1 with a 10 point loss to 5A Copperas Cove. I think they are a dark horse this year.

I know that Waco high is 4A and Abilene Wylie is 3A if that helps. ;)

With a little digging I found they're ranked #33 in 4A (Maxpreps) and have beaten Austin High, Ellison and lost to Copperas Cove. I have no idea how good they or the teams they played are however..

Waco beat Wylie 27-24 last season. This year's Wylie team has a much stronger passing game than last season...no doubt. I heard Waco has an impressive RB that could give our defense fits.

By the way, Sville....we could have done much better against y'all. We just didn't want to! :wave:

Would like to see Wylie win this game...Waco is going to be pretty salty...they lost to Copperss Cove 41-31 and Cove lost to Southlake Caroll 38-31...The two teams they have beat haven't won a game...Austin High and Killeen Ellison so This game should be winnable because Wylie scored on Stephenville:1popcorn:..aggy logic!!:):crazy:

Waco will be our biggest district game as it will decide seeding in D2. Killeen and Midway will both be D1. It would be nice to win the district outright but it will be more important to beat Waco to avoid Aledo until the qtr. finals, otherwise the loser of the Waco-Sville game will catch them in round 2.

I agree I think Waco is a lot better than people think and will win a 35-21 type game against Wylie. Their speed will give the Bulldogs some problems.

We will know more about my Jackets after they play Hebron this week. The Hawks will have the best defense we have seen so far.

Well I heard at the Whattaburger in Early that a certain Stephenville poster said that those two TD's were at the end of the game and were mercy TD's and that they only let them score so that they could make Brownwood look bad by not letting them score and run up the score so that Black Majic would have a nail to hang his hat on..Just sayin!!

Nice try but the first TD was in the first quarter. They handed the ball to our D with a big purple bow on and fell down so we could run it in for the score. But, all kidding aside, it was definitely intended to make Brownwood look bad...no doubt. They had no way of knowing at that time that Brownwood really didn't need much help to look bad, though. 

This is true...we went into our vaulted "we give Up" defense as well as our get the ball down the field but go backwards inside the twenty Offense and it worked!! I bet Bob has them in better shape this week. Good luck to the Dawgs!!

Should be a good test for the Bullpups, Waco is a run first team it seems, and usually has good overall team speed. I'll say Wylie by a touchdown, but it will be a contest. Probably high scoring affair.

Waco RB had over 500 total yds in 1st game and has only slightly slowed down since.

Have a good friend who is a coach at Waco and I expect Waco to put it on Wylie. Waco is fast and explosive. Other than letting Austin High get on a roll, they dominated. CC was a good test and they are a great team.

Waco is a running team in a spread teams clothing. Their running back is explosive. The one negative for Waco is they don't do well when having to travel and this will be quite a long trip.

I wasn't at the game, but I heard that Waco's O-line was massive (college sized) on the right and simply big on the left...these pics confirm that.:eek: I was also told that if Waco could get a handle on penalties and mental mistakes they would be good enough to give Stephenville a game (probably not beat them)...and go pretty far in 4A.

I had a feeling this one would be a tough test, and it looks like I was right..

Tough game. Not too concerned about losing to a huge, physical, fast 4A team... am much more concerned about the injuries we suffered. Two starting linemen ended the game on crutches, several others with ankle sprains/etc. Should be a busy morning at the orthopedic clinic on Antilley Road... :ack!: We really did not need that.

Their nose guard #71 (6'5" ish, 370 lbs--and moved well) and our center #50 (Olsen--6'3", 300 lbs) had a spirited battle all game. I was almost fixated watching it! I actually thought Riley did a very good job on him... What killed us were their speed rushing DE's--#40 and #44--lived in our backfield all night. Thankfully that's it with big (huge!) 4A teams for this season. 2 wins against good 3A teams (Rockdale and Graham), 2 losses against very good 4A teams (Stephenville and Waco). If we can get healed up--I still think this will be a very good Wylie team... next two weeks against Lovejoy and Estacado will be telling.
