Never know that's why they play the game, I mean I realize the moon, sun and stars have to be aligned right with a planetary shift, but it could happen right?

When did the DQ GOTW start being broadcast? usually they just go to the game and do a big segment on it

That's what I was thinking too. I also thought UIL didn't allow live Friday night broadacasts. DQ gotw usually just gets like pep rally coverage and lots of extra highlight coverage.

I might be wrong, but I think last year. Brownwood had a couple of games streamed. Seems like the Bridgeport and maybe 1 other. I really can't remember. Or maybe that was the Big Country deal  I don't know they all start running together.

When playing spread teams they play the special. and can go cover 1 or 2 or 3. Just cause they have a rep to play the "1" does not mean we do it all the time.

Going into the 4th quarter of last year's game, it was tied at 35. Celina scored 3 times in the 4th to win the game. The only reason PP wasn't in the ball game the last quarter is because they were sucking wind. Only had 26 on varsity last year......this year only 23.

I'm not going to go out and predict a PP win because I will be shocked if it actually happens. PP has better WRs this year, but not as good of a QB. My worry is the O-Line...it's mediocre at best. The Center is just about all the line has.

One thing I do know is this, PP will play Celina hard and they'll play until the final tick. It may be Celina by a landslide but the Bearcats won't give up. I still wish PP/Celina would have played in '08 and '09, I think we would have gotten 2 wins those years and would help with the confidence against them.

It's the DQ Big game of the week because it's still a big rivalry game, it's been one-sided yes, but with the exception of 2 games they've still been close games, PP just hasn't been able to get over the hump.

Make no mistake...Pilot Point will bring it..Rivalry seems to bring out the best in most teams regardless of talent. I certainly thought Pilot Point was going to win that game in Celina last year...Perhaps they are waiting to do it on their home field this year. I will be there hopefully...always a good game!!

Maybe 09, but not 2008. Carthage beat Celina in a great game at Texas Stadium to win the 3A state title. McCartney, Waldrup, and crew were pretty strong that year.

If you recall, the teams we "stumbled" against were.....Daingerfield(2A champs).......Whitehouse(4A playoff team).......and Propser(3A champs)...... not sure it was as much as we "stumbled" as it was we were playing some fine teams

Secondly, Pilot Point was never Class B

Third Celina went 4-1 last night winning JV, 7th A&B and 8B.......PP won the 8th grade A game 30-20. Celina scored late in the game, PP missed 5 conversions, could have been 40-12. Celina played well, but the PP 8th grade was just a tad bit better.

he left after the 2001 season dint he? we were still in the streak when he left and it lasted until after Celina's 2nd ever 3A playoff game....

I still wonder why Butch went for the 1 pt kick with a hurt kicker instead of going for the win right there while he had those D'field boys tired...they drove it right down their throat for the td and the 2pt conversion would have avoided OT.....but alas

woohoo! i wish this game was next week since i will be there, but Melissa is lookin pretty good so i may luck out and get to see a great game next friday! We should have less trouble with the bearcats this year, however. I think picking one qb is a good idea, but i like both of them. It works out really well if they keep brooks as the starting FS, since the pass coverage seemed to play a notch above when he was in there, especially late in the game last week

Hats off to the Bobcats......our squad of 25 was dropping like flies, I think final body count was around 5 or 6. Prayers to those athletes on both sides that had injuries tonight.

I really don't know what to say. It's frustrating being a PP fan right now. 1 - The non-district schedule hasn't helped and isn't going to get better, (Liberty Christian, Iowa Park, Celina, Nolan Catholic and Boyd), when you're playing that good of competition and you have a small roster and a young roster (experience wise) it's a good way to get players hurt. 2 - I don't know why this coaching staff has been so stubborn about sticking with the spread. I HATE the spread. It's going into 7 years now, it's a failed experiment in Pilot Point, it doesn't work, especially when we're in 3A. We have 25 kids on the roster, when you have 4-5 WRs running down field every play and then they have to turn around and play defense, they're dead by the 2nd half. When PP had the good years in 08 and 09, they ran the spread yes, but they RAN the ball out of the spread. In 08 they had 2 1,000 yard rushers and a QB that rushed for 900 yds, in 08 the QB rushed for 1,200 yards and the RB rushed for 2,980 and 45TDs. When your QB is slow on the trigger and isn't accurate, your O-Line doesn't give him time set up in the pocket and your WR's can't catch AND when you do run the ball your RB, FB and QB get 6 to 8 yards a carry, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this crap doesn't work. RUN THE FOOTBALL! It's worked before in Pilot Point, TRUST ME, their's 30 years of game film and 80 years of records that says it does. 3 - Defensively PP did a pretty good job, but same ole same ole, tagging and looking to pull the flag out of the players waistband kills them. They've finally started to wrap up, now they just haven't figured out how to drive the player or drag the player down. Tackling isn't just a problem in High School, I see it in College and in the Pros as well, when did they quit teaching it? Back in the days (I know I'm pulling the old man card out) when you played Pilot Point, you knew your ass was going to be sore in the morning because you were going to get hit and you were going to get hit hard for 4 quarters of football. Jerry Jones and G.A. Moore's staffs taught how to tackle, they taught how to hit, they how to wrap an opponent, push him backwards and take him to the ground......somehow that has been lost, I guess G.A. took the "Tackling for dummies" book with him when he left the last time. Celina did what Celina does. PP had some stops, and then one missed tackle turned into 5 or 6 and 15, 20, 60 yards later was a 1st Down or Touch Down.

Gonna be a long year to be a Bearcat fan.

Defensivly I thought PP did a very good job during the first half y'all loaded up the box and made it tough on Celina. I think that in the 2nd half a combination of things happened.1 I think the coaches tore into the Butts of the Celina players and 2 PP looked wore out. Overall I thought PP played a tough game it's hard to win when you have the line Celina does and they wear you done during the game.

Gonna be a long year to be a Bearcat fan.You make some very good points DW. I too pray those that were injured are okay today. Tackling is a lost art. It seems everyone wants to go for the big hit and fails to wrap up or don't want to hit at all and plays grab tackle. I like to see pancake blocking and good form tackling. I understand an occasional missed tackle but a game full is lack of teaching by staff or desire to be physical by the player himself.

Again I harp on the two stats that are going to get the little Bobcats beat.

2 - fumbles (fortunately none lost)
... and drum roll
11 penalties for 99 yards (certainly Celina traditionally has to fight the ref's chips, but come on, that is a known issue)

11 is a 31% improvement over the 16 they got last week. If they keep making that improvement they will be fine by playoff time. I think Milissa and Paris will both be high quality opponents this year and that should help this team mature. Celina's passing game seems to be improving and last night they were what, 13 of 18. There were 3 balls delivered right on target but dropped, one ball just on the finger tips and one that the QB was hit while trying to throw. (Got a grounding penalty for that one.) All in all, pretty good delivery of the rock to the receivers. As players settle into their positions and get more reps I think there will be fewer mistakes and more efficient play. I think it is going to be a fun season.

One thing that needs to be added here is Jamark Simmons is a beast once everything starts gelling on the offensive side it could be a long night for most defenses. Defensivly we have to get better at getting in the backfield and tackling. It will come the defense last year struggled some butt by dist. They were playing good.

Okay this is where I have to disagree with you. I'll admit I am a PP fan, but I do go and see other games, I usually see 2 or 3 Celina games a year for the last 20 years. I go to those games unbiased, I don't pull for Celina or their opponent, I do give a little more pull to their opponent because if I don't have a rooting interest I usually want the underdog to win in ALL sports. I have NEVER seen Celina having to fight the refs. Usually more times than none, the games I see it's like the refs are afraid to call a penalty on the Mighty Bobcats. They hardly ever call the famous Celina Chop Block. It happens 4 to 5 times a game that I go to and it gets called 20% of the time. Last night penalty wise I saw an undisciplined Celina team and I've never seen that. 2 chop blocks were called, the first time it gets called you would have thought that the lineman would have though, "okay we got caught, we can't do it again" then the Pass Interference calls. Ooops he got called for Pass Interference maybe when I cover a WR I shouldn't come over the back and push him down before the ball gets there. Not real sure what the players were thinking.

Here is a point where stats can be misleading...

How many penalties did Celina have with their first bunch? How many occurred when the game was waaaaaay past being decided? Answer -- Most of them. I want to say that Celina had 4 or 5 penalties by the midpoint of the 3rd quarter. The rest came during the later stages of the game with younger or less experienced players playing on defense and offense.

You're right, but both chop blocks and the offsides were against the first team.

First off he's a traitor to both of us, traded us for them, then them for us, then us for them again, and then them for us again........now both of us and wearing Aubrey red. (Still can't believe he hasn't found away to slip orange into their colors some how.)

Secondly, Pilot Point was never Class B

Actually Pilot Point was Class C from 1931-38, then Class B from 1939-50, Class A from 1951-79, and 2A from 1980-2001 and 2008-09. (Everyone got an extra A in 1980, so Pilot Point was basically in the same class for 50 years straight.)
